The 2016 BMW 7 Series 730i limousine is ready to go on sale next month and will kick start by launching in China and Turkey first. The car is definitely heading to other parts of the world, but there’s just no confirmed release date yet.
The entry level limousine may not be as large as one would have expected a limo to be, but it shares a lot of features and is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. The car is capable of rendering a decent 258 horsepower out of it with 295 pound feet of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 6.2 seconds. Opting for the xDrive version of the car will do the same with a slight variation of 6.3 seconds. The top speed of the 730i is 155 miles per hour.
The car uses an eight speed automatic gearbox system. It has a very low emission rate with just 134 g/km of CO2 making it an eco-friendly model to opt for.
Even before its official launch, rumors started leaking in. Malaysian media reported that a 2016 BMW 730i is coming. It was evident that the initial launch is going to take place in Asia from the announcement. Later, the Turkish BMW website accidentally leaked the model number confirming its existence.
Before speculations could spread further, BMW has pulled the cord on the hype and officially launched the car in China and Turkey. It may come across as surprising news, because the company usually focuses in Germany or chooses to have grand launches in the US and the UK. However, choosing these two locations confirmed that their primary audience who buys limousine lies there than anywhere else.
After all, Turkey is known for oil merchants who prefer limos as their primary car all the time, due to extreme weather conditions and rugged roads. They are a robust addition to BMW’s lineup in the Eastern part of the world as well. But, we have no word on whether it will get launched soon in the US, the UK among other regions. A European auto magazine has reported that BMW is considering launching the engine variant in newer regions, but are working out market feasibility before making it official.
It is an extremely big car and may not appeal to the majority of buyers, but for those who have a need for it, it’s the best BMW could offer.
