The sixth generation of the Chevrolet Camaro is bound to hit car dealerships around the world soon, and according to initial reports, it will come with a spike in price.

General Motors intends to prove that muscle cars are far from dying and the 2016 Camaro is an excellent way to do it.

The first thing you’ll notice about the 2016 Camaro is that the car is smaller and has a sharper design. For starters, the Chevy Camaro will have wide grill, making the vehicle wider in the surface area. By using a new platform, engineers at General Motors managed to shed 100kg out of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. The company has also added a rear spoiler that helps with aerodynamics and performances. Some measurements to consider: the 2016 Camaro will be 28% stiffer and smaller, as the length is slimmed down to 188 inches, down from 190.6 inches.

Under the hood, the Camaro will come in three different settings. The first, base model will feature a 2.0-liter turbo engine. The higher end models include a 6.2-liter V6 engine and a 3.6-liter V6 engine. The base model will produce 250hp while the top rated 6.2-liter V6 engine is expected to produce between 460 and 500hp. The top model will be actually faster than Mustang competitors.

There is no official release about the technological goodies prospective buyers can expect from the 2016 Camaro, but judging from the first spy and leaked images, the interior features a number of gadgets designed to improve the driving experience.

As for the price for the 2016 Chevy Camaro, the base model costs $26,695. For comparison, that is almost $2,000 more expensive than the fifth generation of the Camaro, which is priced at $24,700. However, with the massive improvements in literally every aspect of the muscle car, GM believes that their marketing department can sell and justify the spike in price.

GM is putting a lot of trust in the 2016 Chevy Camaro and even though they have been silent for the most part, leaked pictures and information show bump in handling, performance, exterior and interior. Additionally, the 2016 Camaro will come with a series of customization options, giving prospective buyers the option to make the car “feel like their own”.
