The 2016 Chevrolet Volt is available for booking in certain states in the US and it is purportedly available with discounts too. The few states that will launch the 2016 Volt will offer cash incentive options for potential buyers.
Most of the regions in the US may not see a 2nd generation Volt till next year; the company is then planning on a nationwide launch of the new Volt as a 2017 model. However, purchasers can avail of the 2016 model in certain states including Massachusetts, Connecticut, California, New Jersey, Oregon, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island and New York.
In these regions, the 2016 model is available under a scheme called the Volt Incremental Consumer Cash Program, wherein the customers can get a $1000 bonus. This scheme is on till November 2 only in these specific states where the 2016 Chevrolet Volt will be released.
It is important to note that the Volt Incremental Consumer Cash Program cannot be combined with other promotional offers and lease rate offerings, although it is reportedly available with the $500 ‘Conquest’ incentive targeted at non-GM clients.
Simultaneously, heavy discounts on the 2015 Volt model will continue to be available. Till November 2, the first generation model will get up to $2500 in discounts and incentives. People with a Volt model of 2011 or thereafter are eligible for a loyalty bonus of $2500 if they choose to purchase a newer model or another Chevy. The loyalty bonus is on offer on 16 models of Chevrolet, but not on the 2016 Volt model.
This bonus can also be available on many Chevrolet SUVs and trucks including the Silverado, Camaro, Suburban, Colorado and Tahoe. This scheme is reportedly aimed at retaining the Chevrolet customers in those states where the 2016 Volt version is yet to be received from shifting loyalties.
The highly anticipated 2016 Chevrolet Volt is expected to have a driving range of 53 miles and its starting price is estimated to be around $33,170. While the price is not as low as expected or as other available cars, experts opine that the 2016 Volt will deliver enhanced fuel-efficiency and a ‘cleaner’ output.
The 2016 Volt set to be positioned against rivals such as the Nissan Leaf and the Prius Hybrid will have features similar to Tesla Model S reflecting Tesla’s premium positioning in the EV market. The new Volt will feature the I-4 1.5L direct injection engine and exhausts gas recirculation. Although this vehicle is not designed for speed but for space it is expected to deliver a peak torque at 5600 rpm.
The new Volt will feature lithium-ion batteries which will increase efficiency by 20% as compared to its predecessor. The hybrid car is estimated to be 30 pounds lighter too. With the batteries fully charged and the fuel tank completely filled, the 2016 Chevrolet Volt is estimated to run up to 420 miles.
