Jaguar has struggled to get a foothold in the US markets for quite a while.
However, the company is confident that the new F-Pace compact crossover will significantly boost the sales figures. Recently unveiled by the British carmaker, the F-Pace will go on sale next month in the United States. CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America, Joe Eberhardt, says that the F-Pace could become the most important vehicle in Jaguar’s entire line-up.
This remains a great statement especially considering that the line-up includes the recently launched Jaguar XF sedan, which competes with cars like the BMW 5 series and Mercedes E class. The F-Pace is part of a segment that is hugely popular in the United States. For this reason, it has to compete with a range of offerings like the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Mercedes GLC. Given its pricing, it may also be capable of clashing with cars like the Porsche Macan and the BMW X4.
Eberhardt expects significant growth in the segment going forward due to cheaper gas prices in the United States. The scenario is expected to last for another two years. Based on the same design language and underpinnings as the new XF, the F-Pace provides a great balance of luxury and driving dynamics claims the company. Aside from the F-Pace, Jaguar are also bringing the new XE into the US shores. This will increase the company’s lineup from just three vehicles to five.
F-Pace is expected to generate 90% buyers who are new to the brand, according to the chief executive. The entry-level diesel model of the F-Pace is priced at $41,985 inclusive of shipping. Jaguar has decided to offer three variants of this compact crossover in the United States. The base vehicle will carry a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with turbochargers, which help it produce 180 bhp. The middle of the line 35t variant has a 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine, which has been supercharged. The engine gives a phenomenal 340 bhp and pricing starts at $43,385.
The range topper, however, has the same engine that has been tuned to give out 380 bhp. The range topping S version is priced at $57,695. These prices are inclusive of shipping and the vehicle will be available from next month onwards. Jaguar is expecting the 35t variant to be the biggest seller in the portfolio.
