The 2016 Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe has been spotted on the road and as expected it is highly camouflaged, but some of the exterior changes are obvious that no one can help but notice it.
The upcoming E-Class is the car which Mercedes expects to help them take down industry leaders like Audi A5 and the BMW 6 Series vehicles. While the former offering is a good car, it is yet to be widely accepted by commuters and doesn’t have the brand name that BMW or Audi has. The luxury automobile manufacturer is ready to change this once and for all.
Expected to go on sale towards the end of 2016, the 2016 Mercedes Benz E-Class is now being tested on the roads, which has yielded these spy shots. With more than a year to go before its official launch, it is evident that the manufacturer doesn’t want anyone to know the changes they have made to the design of the car. It was extremely camouflaged in every corner which made it difficult to spot the design changes.
However, there are some that just can’t be hidden. One among them is the sloping roofline, which seamlessly tapers to the rear of the car. The designs are nothing new to boast about, because Mercedes has already implemented them in the newly launched C-Class coupe and the S-Class coupe.
Every new generation vehicle from the manufacturer is integrated on the proprietary MRA platform and the new E-class will be no different. The car will use four-cylinder petrol engines in their entry level trim line variant while a 2.0-liter diesel engine model will also be made available for buyers. Apart from these two offerings, the 2016 Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe will be available with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel which is expected to be priced higher because of the increased horsepower.
Apart from these models, Mercedes Benz is gearing up to launch a plug-in hybrid version of the E350e. In this particular model, the 2.0-liter petrol engine will be integrated to an electric motor, but there is no word on whether such a hybrid will make its way to the Coupe as well.
The spy pictures reveal very little about the vehicle. The wait is going to be longer or at least until a huge auto expo takes place. Mercedes Benz is expected to make their presence felt at the upcoming Detroit auto show and if they take time to discuss the E-Class Coupe, there is a possibility to know more about the car’s features and pricing.
