Renault launched the next gen edition of Clio supermini and is now ready to bring the 2016 Renault Clio RenaultSport in stores this year.
The car is scheduled to get launched in the month of September. Pre-orders begin in the same month and we expected they will be rolling out the cars for customers before the end of this year. A wide range of powertrain and chassis options are provided for their buyers making it an enticing buy for Renault fans. While there are different types of engines to choose from, the company has kept the transmission system limited to a single six speed EDC dual clutch automatic model. There won’t be an option to make it manual in any of the Clio RS models.
The base model of the 2016 Renault Clio RS is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine which is capable of delivering up to 197 horsepower. A tweaked version of the engine when mounted on the Trophy chassis can provide up to 217 horsepower. In order to match the varying body dimensions, the chassis will be equipped with large 18-inch wheels combined with an Akrapovic exhaust and reduced suspension level.
Next in the line is the Sport and Cup chassis options. While Sport uses 18-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels, Cup version uses only 18-inch alloy wheels with stiff springs and a lowered ride height. The steering rack on the Cup is much quicker when compared to the Sport so as to offer it the uniqueness it requires. With a tweaked powertrain, the 2016 Renault Clio RS Trophy edition is capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 6.6 seconds. The top speed of the vehicle is pegged at 146 miles per hour.
RenaultSport Clio 2016 edition is distinguished with some of the new features including the LED lights which are distinctly shaped to mark the brand’s identity. The bumper design is much bigger in the next gen edition. Many of the trimline variants use alloy wheels, rear diffuser and a twin exit exhaust system. The C-shaped lights when put together with the RS logos on the car make it exclusive, stylish and most importantly distinct from other models in the same class.
Apart from the confirmed trimlines, Renault has also announced a GT Line trim which is designed after the Clio RS edition. All the features are carried out in a much bigger aspect with a new blue color scheme, premium seating and leather wrap on the steering wheel.
