The 2016 Golf SportWagen is getting a new limited edition variant and Volkswagen made the announcement official. The model has some minor tweaks and is made to find a place between the existing S and the SE trimline variants.
From a pricing perspective, the S is $22,445 while the higher end SE is $27,845. The brand has priced the new Golf SportWagen limited edition right between this lot at $25,815. The difference in pricing between these cars might sound extremely similar but the slight differences play an integral role in convincing a buyer to go for it or not. All the costs mentioned includes delivery charges within the United States.
The features found in the limited edition include keyless start and entry, heated front seats for added comfort, leatherette upholstery, heated window water nozzles, and chrome window trim. The car has 17-inch alloy wheels by default which can be upgraded by opting for a higher end trimline variant. The limited badge is stamped on the front fenders giving the car a unique look and owners a chance to show that they have gone with a unique variant than the conventional ones.
For easy connectivity and entertainment, the 2016 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen is equipped with MIB II infotainment system. Controls are done using the 6.5-inch touchscreen display. It also includes a USB port making it easier to transfer songs or videos from a personal device. Almost every mobile connectivity feature is supported by this limited edition vehicle. It works with Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink and Google’s Android Auto system.
Safety features include forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning system and automatic braking system to safeguard passengers against an imminent collision. There are no powertrain options as the car is equipped with a 1.8-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine.
It is capable of delivering 170 horsepower and has 199 lb feet of torque. A six speed automatic transmission box powers the vehicle which has a fuel efficiency of 25 mpg in city and 35 mpg on highway. The vehicle has a total storage space measured at 30.4 cubic feet which should easily fulfill the needs of most families while the second row seats if folded increases the overall cargo area to 66.5 cubic feet.
With three different models to choose from, Volkswagen aims to convince every buyer to go for a Golf with varied features and pricing options. The company has plans for better hybrid and plug-in models as well.
