The 2017 Audi Q8 concept teaser is all one needs to see as it previews the future range of Q-series toppers from the automobile brand.
The company is about to have a grand official reveal at the upcoming Detroit auto show.
The North American International Auto Show, commonly known as Detroit expo is where the Audi Q8 concept is heading to. The renderings are purely for depiction and may not represent the actual production model. However, the sketches showcase an emotional styling of the car that’s sleek, aggressive and most of all extremely stylish. It is expected to pave way for new designs in the full-size category.
With strict contention on all sides from Mercedes Benz GLE models and the BMW X6, Audi aims to stand apart with its range of SUVs in the Q-series. The car will be designed on the MLB platform that is already being used for the Q7 models. The versatile platform allows the engineers to offer multiple powertrain options including petrol and diesel engine variants. They will sport both V6 and V8 engines.
“The new design and the concepts previewed with the Audi Q8 will serve as the benchmark for our Q model line in the future. The showcar depicts the development we have been involved in for a long time. The idea is offer the best in-class interior space with equally comfortable seats, sleek exterior looks with flat roof line without compromising on drive quality,” said Audi’s design head Marc Lichte.
The company has released two different teaser images, one of them showing the front end of the SUV that is much wider than any other car in Audi’s current lineup. The front fascia is large yet not boxy looking and has three-dimensional sculpting adding to its visual appeal. The car has taken some inspiration from the 1980s, the Audi ur-quattro a model most modern day buyers may not be aware of.
By taking design cues from their own cars that are more than two decades old, the automobile manufacturer has managed to retain the flavor of the Audi brand yet innovate in a way no one expected them to. The flares above the wheels, C-post and bold look is close to the Quattro from the past.
Earlier updates confirmed that the 2017 Audi Q8 concept will also be equipped with next generation technologies including OLED high-definition touchscreen display, 48V electric battery system and a newly developed autonomous driving system.
