Just days ahead of the New York Auto Show, the 2017 Chevrolet Sonic has been launched with an array of improved features and the design has been revamped so as to make the car look contemporary.
The redesigned headlights are obviously the most prominent change of them all while the company’s popular grille already found in the Spark and the Bolt is now found in the Sonic as well. It will be available as a sedan and hatchback giving buyers plenty of options to choose from. The model’s standard variant is powered by a 1.8-liter I-4 engine while another version uses a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The higher end variant delivers 138 horsepower and all models use six speed manual transmission system which can be upgraded to a six speed automatic transmission for additional cost.
The 2017 Chevrolet Sonic is available in four different trimline variants including the LS, LT, Premier, while the RS is offered only with the hatchback model. Exclusive features of the RS include piano black accents, a flat bottom steering wheel which is incorporated with the exclusive badge, uniquely designed floor mats and a stylish upholstery made using red matte finished material. Buyers have the option to go for the RS variant with a Chevrolet Sonic sedan.
While it may sound like a minor change, the 2017 Chevrolet Sonic’s headlights which looks quite conventional in the next gen model looks appealing. It uses LED accent lights and have vertical housing making it easier for the fog lights to be placed. The wheel size of the model is highly customizable as it is offered in sizes ranging from 15 to 17 inches. Four different brand new color variants are being offered by Chevrolet. It includes arctic blue, orange burst, cajun red and brimstone.
Designed to be a convenient car for majority of buyers, the Sonic 2017 edition features newer technical updates. The car now supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The steering wheel and the front seats have heating capability besides the keyless start, stop functionality. A seven-inch screen is used to navigate the infotainment system supported by the MyLink software. It even supports 4G LTE making it easier to communicate and enjoy faster internet connectivity. Safety features include forward collision warning and lane departure warning besides other basic stuff.
The 2017 Chevrolet Sonic is heading to the New York auto expo and will be displayed at the auto show this week.
