The rebranded Fisker Automotive which is now known as the Karma Automotive has been working on a brand new car.The 2017 Karma Revero their flagship model is priced at $130,000 and has some new specs detailed.
The new Karma Revero features brand new sports wheels, a sleek design with a revamped front fascia and a completely new badge. The car’s metal sheets are left untouched allowing it to retain the base design created by Fisker engineers. The interiors are equally posh as majority of the accessories are made using wood. The new infotainment system now supports Apple Car Play, and is updated through over-the-air updates.
Under the hood, the 2017 Karma Revero uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged gas generator. It is connected to the 21.4 kilowatt lithium ion battery. With two electric motors, the model can generate 403 horsepower with a massive 981 lb feet of torque. The sedan can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 5.4 seconds. The speed can be achieved only when the car is set in the Sport mode.
Despite all these amazing features and an elite finish, the Revero is not such a strong entry in the electric vehicle segment. The total range offered by the in-built battery is 50 miles but with the help of the petrol engine, it can cover a total of 300 miles. Passengers can rely on the car to get them to their desired location without running out of fuel. They just can’t do it with its electric motor as the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt or Tesla cars do.
The electric battery measured at 6.6 kW is mounted on the 2017 Karma Revero. It is connected to an on-board charger which kickstarts as soon as the battery goes out of power. The level 2 charger can get the job done in 3 hours. If there is an option to plug the charger into a DC power output, eighty percent of the battery can be charged in just 24 minutes. A solar roof has been incorporated on top of the sedan. The power generated by the roof is used to charge the 12V battery and the lithium ion battery pack.
Being such an expensive model, the new 2017 Karma Revero is about to join the elite category and might have very few buyers who are willing to spend the huge $130,000 price tag. The company has also planned to launch a smaller sedan after the Revero.
