The automobile manufacturer has upgraded the 2017 Kia Sorento with a host of new safety features and added connectivity features, making it easier for passengers to use the infotainment system.
The car is now equipped with two new options named the Advance technology package and the Advance Touring package. The good news is that both these packages are available in all trim line variants including the lower trim levels. Buyers who opt for the Sorento can choose to upgrade it without having to purchase the expensive higher trim line models.
Safety features which have found their way into the car includes dynamic bending lights, rear cross traffic alert and forward collision warning. While these are autonomous features with the capability to warn the driver before a collision occurs, they still rely on human interaction in most scenarios. It is expected to drastically change when the fully autonomous cars reach the mainstream audience.
Additional features in the car include lane departure warning, a standard functionality found in almost every model these days, smart cruise control with advanced technology and automatic emergency braking. The last feature is capable of triggering the braking system as soon as the car detects an imminent collision and confirms that the driver didn’t react to stop it in time. It has already helped avoid thousands of accidents throughout the world and the 2017 Kia Sorento will feature an advanced feature of the known feature.
While buyers can choose to upgrade any trim line with these packages, the top of the line SXL model is equipped with all the features. The car’s latest edition also supports Android Auto and Apple Car Play technology. People using an Android smartphone or any device made by Apple can now stream their content from the mobile device to their car. It allows easy transfer of music, movies and other content to the vehicle’s infotainment system.
The base model of the 2017 Kia Sorento is equipped with a 2.4-liter I4 engine capable of delivering 185 horsepower with 178 lb feet of torque. It uses a six speed automatic transmission system on all models and there are no options to change it to manual. The Sorento can comfortably accommodate seven passengers at once. It uses both front wheel drive and all-wheel drive technology. Buyers can pick the one based on their individual preference and the fuel efficiency they need as the all-wheel drive delivers more performance but lesser mile range.
