What can you get if you combine the AMG C63 sedan and the C-Class coupe? In many aspects, arguably the best car you can wish for, which is exactly what the new 2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 Coupe is.
The C63 coupe combines the luxury and comfort of the sedan version, with the sporty feel and two door body of the C-Class coupe. Simply put, the C63 AMG Coupe is everything you love about the C63 sedan but with a sleeker body.
If you dare to ask what is inside the sporty car, Mercedes has an answer; an engine with 503 ponies inside. There will be two engine choices for the customers, the standard twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, packing 470hp. But the S model, which has received some engine mounts, the power is boosted by 33 ponies. The S AMG C63 Coupe packs the same power as the AMG GT S, but with 50Nm more torque. The wider body of the 2017 C63 Coupe results with 70KGs more, but the weight-to-power ratio is better than the first generation. All that power under the hood allows the C63 AMG Coupe to sprint from 0 to 60mph in just 4 seconds, which is 0.1 second faster than the sedan version and 0.2 seconds faster than the wagon version of the AMG C63.
But if you consider the 503hp S version, you can see the sprint time go down to 3.9 seconds, which is 0.6 times faster than the Audi RS5 and the Lexus RC-F and 0.4 seconds faster than the BMW M4. The top speed of the C63 coupe is limited to 155 and 180 mph respectively.
The outside of the C63 is also improved, and it is vastly different than the C-Class coupe. The only elements that the two cars share are the roof, boot lid and the frameless door. For the C63 AMG Coupe, the German manufacturer has extended the front fenders by 64mm and the rear by 66mm. The result is a much wider body which can house a revised chassis with a new platform. The size of the tires is also increased to 255mm on the front and 285mm on the rear. The size of the wheels can vary between 18 and 19 inch alloys.
Some of the typical styling elements of the AMG models make it to the C63 Coupe, including the front bumper, the integral front splitter, prominent grille with the star emblem, black mirror housings on the exterior, side sills that are beefed-up and subtle boot deck spoiler.
Inside, the AMG C6 Coupe is a delight, with tons of goodies including trim applications, multi-functioning steering wheel, AMG specific instruments, lots of controls and sport seats for the driver and passenger seats. There are countless of options for customers to add via optional packages.
When released later this year, the AMG C63 coupe will compete with the likes of BMW M4, Audi RS5 and Lexus RC-F. However, what the C63 coupe has over all of them is speed and power. With 50 ponies more than its competitors, the 2017 C63 Coupe is the most powerful rear-wheel drive vehicle in the class. Mercedes put the extra effort to vastly improve the second generation of the AMG C-class coupe, as the 2017 C63 packs 22 more ponies inside than the 6.2 liter V8 engine of its predecessor. On top of that, Mercedes also offers a performance package that should further improve the power of the C63 AMG Coupe.
