Subaru is all-set to launch the fifth generation version of the Impreza. The car is about to be launched at the New York auto expo before which the company has launched an official teaser video showcasing some of the exterior changes they have made to the vehicle.
The 2017 Subaru Impreza was unveiled earlier at the 2015 Tokyo motor show as well as the NY expo but the models shown in the expo were early concept cars. It included a sedan and a hatchback but obviously the cars have undergone some major changes in the past few months. The NY reveal will showcase a full production version of the car. The teaser video shows the car in action but it mostly looks like renderings of the model than the actual vehicle.
One of the unique aspects of the 2017 Subaru Impreza is probably the revamped headlights which are large yet sleek in its own respect. Similar to most other earlier launches, the model will feature an all-wheel drive system on all trimline variants. EyeSight suite is a brand new technology introduced by Subaru which integrates a host of safety features in the car.
Safety features found in the 2017 model includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning besides others. The company has plans to introduce more such features but they have not officially announced them so far. Things are being kept under the hood so that there is interesting stuff to talk about at the 2016 New York auto show reveal.
Subaru Global Platform also known as SGP is an innovative technology that the engineers at Subaru have come up with. It will be integrated on all future models starting with the next gen Impreza. It will be used in all compact cars, hatchback, sedan and SUVs. The platform, according to the brand adds at least 70 to 100 percent rigidity. The torsional rigidity has also been improved at least by seventy percent.
The center of gravity of the fifth generation Impreza has been reduced to 5mm, made possible by the Subaru Global platform. There is no word on the powertrain being offered by the company which should be out on the launch date. The teaser video gives a brief glimpse of the car and its exterior design while there are no visuals of the interiors. Check out the video below to get an idea before the release date.
