The 2017 Volkswagen Golf R delivers on multiple levels as it is the powerful, performance driven Golf that buyers were looking forward to.
Powered by a new engine, the updated version of the Golf R can deliver an amazing 306 horsepower. The acceleration capability is equally promising as it can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.6 seconds. Not many hatchbacks can boast of such amazing numbers but Volkswagen does with its latest offering. The changes are evident both on the interior and exterior of the vehicle. The car has a new front fascia with aggressive bumpers and a sleek rear end that merges with the shoulder line.
The car’s powertrain is now connected to a seven speed DSG auto show that allows the base model to reach 60 miles per hour in about 4.6 seconds while the Golf R estate does the same in 4.9 seconds. The difference in their acceleration capacity is hardly evident as it is quite impressive for a model like the Volkswagen Golf. The car used to be in the commuters category but the newest version is more sporty in terms of design and can easily hit the race track to prove its mettle.
Another important milestone Volkswagen achieved is to price the new model on par with the Golf GTI Clubsport S released last year. The performance is relatively the same except for a minor difference made possible by the gearbox and the pricing is slightly more but it is still on the affordable level. The changes are consistent throughout the model including new bumpers, headlights, taillights, safety features and alloy finish. Safety features found in the vehicle include lane assist, driver assist setup, emergency assist system, traffic jam assist along with autonomous braking system and park assist 3.0 version. The combined effort of all these technologies will allow a comfortable driving experience even for novice drivers.
With a user friendly infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the 2017 Volkswagen Golf R is designed to succeed when it launches next year. The model’s actual pricing is not known at the moment. However, reliable sources have confirmed that the price hike will be nominal and be very close to the current generation model. Order bookings is expected to open in the month of February in UK and deliveries should commence by the mid of 2017.
