The car is built on an extended wheelbase which contributes to spacious interiors. With an increased legroom, passengers onboard the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan XL can experience a comfortable and cozy ride. The SUV is currently being tested and it is easy to make out the design. No kind of disguise has been used on the car which is surprising but Volkswagen probably is done with the production version and is not keen on going for any radical changes for the SUV.

The spy shots of the car were taken in a Volkswagen facility located in Europe. It was supposed to be a private testing center but somehow the images leaked giving us a clear view of the car. China has its own larger version of the Tiguan. The model might make people envious in other regions because it is more spacious, has range of features to make the ride comfortable and is priced right in the Chinese market.

With the spy shots, it is confirmed that the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan XL is heading to Europe and probably US, UK as well. Speaking to a leading automobile magazine, Volkswagen boss confirmed that they are interested in expanding the SUV lineup with bigger models. The idea is to create a new Tiguan, probably one with seven seat edition and another with a five door, a coupe model. The latter is designed to compete against the Range Rover Evoque.

The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan XL is built on the MQB chassis architecture. Almost all the components used to build the SUV is borrowed from the Skoda Octavia, Golf and the next generation Audi Q3. When so many cars are being built on the same architecture, it is no wonder the Tiguan XL SUV is being designed over the same platform.

A 4×4 AWD car is on the cards apart from a compact version of the model. The brand has already started registering multiple models starting with the letter T which ensures their approach towards building the Tiguan lineup.

2017 Volkswagen Tiguan XL is a seven-seater model with a 110m longer wheelbase. It is set to be manufactured in China and Mexico.
