When automobile manufacturers were thinking twice about launching large SUVs, Volkswagen took the first step with its Touareg model.
The time has come to refresh it completely and it was previewed as the T-prime concept car recently.
The images of the concept car were released in a leading automobile magazine giving us a prompt of what to expect in the new model. The T-Prime was officially unveiled at the Beijing motor show this year and it is all set to go into production soon. The concept is supposed to be a four seater, large scale SUV with ample legroom for every passenger as well as an impressive cargo storage space. Compared to the existing version of the Touareg, the new T-Prime is much bigger, wider and lower. Volkswagen during the launch commented that this is how they see all their future models.
According to the pictures launched from the Beijing show, the wheelbase used in the SUV looked more like the ones used in Audi cars. The company’s boss commented that they have made the wheelbase longer and adjusted the sides of the falling roofline so as to make it dramatic. From the looks of it, the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg sure solves the purpose and looks sporty giving buyers enough reason to go for it.
The front fascia is equally impressive with deep air intakes, sharp day lights and a chrome plated front grille. The running lights are large and extended so that they run till the Volkswagen badge in the middle. The rear lights are shaped in a such a way that they resemble the signal icon used in smartphones. It may even be used to show the charge left in a hybrid car’s battery but there is no word on such an application.
Volkswagen has also opted for a brand new platform which may swing in its favour as expected. It also allows the engineers to use six-cylinder engine in the car, which according to VW is a most wanted feature among its customers. The Touareg is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine equipped with TFSI turbocharged technology.
The interior of the car is extremely futuristic with a huge touchscreen display. It is 15-inches large which is almost as big as any laptop or Macintosh available in stores. Volkswagen is definitely going for an ambitious ride with their T-Prime concept SUV which is supposed to be a family car. More updates are expected to announced close to launch date.
