Wagons are the forte for Volvo and it is obvious that they would wish to strengthen it further with a new launch. The 2017 Volvo V90 is coming this February 18th and we have a confirmed release date on the same.
Even before its official launch, the manufacturer has been continuously teasing the crowd of their new V90 which features a new design, features, interiors and some upgrades to make it worthy as a new addition. It looks very much like the wagon which was showcased at the Detroit Auto Show.
Similar to the XC90 which has already won the award for the SUV of the Year and the S90, the 2017 Volvo V90 aims to offer a wide range of engine variants to choose from. It is expected to offer better choices for buyers when they opt for the wagon instead of being smothered to pick from a short list.
The basic variant of the SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter four cylinder T5 engine which is capable of producing a decent 250 horsepower combined with 258 lb feet of torque. The better powered T6 model super charges the engine so as to make it deliver 316 horsepower and 295 lb feet of torque.
For those who like to stay in the loop by going hybrid, the 2017 Volvo V90 also offers a T8 twin engine with plug-in hybrid technology. With the electric motor, the car will offer a total of 17 miles on a single charge, which is more than enough for most drivers as it could obviously switch to the gasoline motor as soon as the battery runs dry. In all the wagons that get launched in the U.S. the vehicle will use an eight-speed automatic transmission system.
Volvo has a couple of models specifically designed to make nostalgia lovers happy. They have the 1962 Amazon, 1953 Duett, 850TR and V70R among a couple others. They even launched the 850 TR at the British Touring Car Championship much to the surprise of onlookers.
In recent times, the brand has been going on a steady rise with good wagons as well as a couple of sedans to woo audience in different strata. They might soon find a place among the likes of Honda, Ford, BMW among other top manufacturers leading to better cars. For now, the V90 is easily a recommended car for commuting and for those who need that extra space.
