The 2018 Honda CR-V was captured by spy photographers in the wild and for the first time, the car has been spotted with original production body which is probably going into the final make.
From the spy pictures that has surfaced online, it is obvious that Honda is going for a substantial design change with the 2018 edition and it is evident in the prototype spotted on the roads. The fifth generation model in the CR-V is much bigger than the existing model and is much more upscale made to satisfy the needs of elite customers. The next gen car is expected to packed with features with better headroom than ever.
There are rumors which claimed that Honda is planning to go for a seven seater variant but it is purely speculation at the moment and no official confirmation has been received from the company. The side profile of the prototype spotted outside is very similar to the existing model but there are some new design elements found even though it is heavily camouflaged to avoid a possible leak.
The front grille of the 2018 Honda CR-V is inspired by the HR-V and the liftgate on the rear is not so angular as the one found in the current edition. The tail lights are stretched so that they touch the liftgate. The spy shots captured is of a higher level trimline variant which is confirmed based on the full LED headlights used in the car. It is found only in Civic and Accord top line variants from the Honda lineup.
For better clarity of vision, the designers of the next CR-V had incorporated a thin LED strip on the headlight clusters, a welcome addition without doubt. While Honda is yet to officially confirm the power train variants they are going to go with, it is known that the car will use a 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine.
Newer powertrains are expected to be added to the list which is something we have deduced because of the dual exhaust pipes used in the rear. A hybrid plug-in model is also rumored as almost every automobile manufacturer has hopped on the hybrid bandwagon by now. The car will use the Honda Link infotainment system which provides all the necessary updates including distance, navigation, entertainment and other relevant functionalities.
Safety features from Honda Sensing suite is part of the car but some features might be reserved for the higher end models.
