The 2018 Porsche Panamera is a huge leap for the auto brand as takes its first step into the world of hybrid technology. The car’s specifications and other details have been revealed before the Paris auto show.
The luxury sedan is about to receive its fourth generation model, the 2018 Porsche Panamera 4 E-hybrid model will make a grand entry at the Paris expo. It has an improved powertrain leading to high horsepower combined with the latest technology, all-wheel drive system and electric more with increased mile range. All the cons that were found in the earlier generation Panamera will be fixed and improved. Under the hood, the new Panamera E-hybrid is powered by a 2.9-liter twin turbo V6 engine. It can render up to 330 horsepower coupled with 330 lb feet of torque. The electric motor is equally efficient as it produces 136 horsepower with 295 lb feet of torque. When both powertrains work in unison, they render some unbelievably strong performance to the new Porsche car.
All variants of the 2018 Porsche Panamera 4 E-hybrid uses all-wheel drive. The powertrains combine to share the horsepower with all wheels at the same time. It is mated to an eight speed PDK dual clutch gearbox which happens to be an automatic transmission, allowing the driver to focus on the drive experience rather than shifting manual gears. With a total power of 462 horsepower and 516 lb feet of torque, the next generation model can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds. Its top speed is pegged at 173 mph.
With new technology in place, the car is capable of seamlessly switching from the petrol powertrain to the electric motor. In the earlier model, the team used an electro hydraulic mechanism which has been replaced with an electric clutch. It used to create a lot of issues in the previous model. The electric range of the 2018 Porsche Panamera 4 E-hybrid is decent as it can go up to 31 miles but it’s definitely not going to compete against the Nissan, Chevrolet or Tesla cars.
