Audi unleashed its all-new 2017 Audi S4 and S4 Avant at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The most important change done to the new cars is the inclusion of turbocharged engines and doing away with manual transmission.

Except for minor exterior alterations/upgrades, the new 2017 Audi S4 and S4 Avant’s main attraction is the replacement of the supercharger technique engine with turbocharged engines. The luxury brand is always on the lookout for changes and upgrades that its fans demand. However, the S4 has not seen too many upgrades and so the company chose to include it in this year’s list, which also has 2016 Audi R8, 2016 Audi A4 and 2016 Audi Q7.

The facelifted S4 features a more beefed-up profile and comes with updates both on the interior and exterior in addition to the major change in the engine. The new S4 has followed design cues from Audi A4 and hence the new S4 is bigger and more aggressive than the previous model.

The Aerodynamic design of the A4 is replicated here, including the sharp features resulting in an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.23, similar to the Audi A4. The front end of the new S4 features a redesigned radiator grille while the hood comes with subtle creases towards the fenders. The headlamp has a more angular shape and is fitted with a new LED pattern.

The bumper in the new S4 has a bolder profile than the previous model while the lower end features a bigger splitter with restyled side intakes. The Audi S4 features Black window trim and redesigned spoiler and side skirts and aluminum frame mirror caps. The wheels are standard 18 inch rims with optional red-painted calipers. The rear of the S4 features diffuser like inserts and trunk-lid spoilers.

The interior comes with a continuous air-vent strip and a better dashboard with the controls placed closer to the central console. The infotainment system comes with an 8.3 inch display placed above the dashboard. The MMI controls and steering wheels are built on the 2014 Audi Prologue Concept.

The seats have a sporty profile and have adjustable side sections, integrated headsets and massage function too. The seats feature Alcantara upholstery and Nappa leather and are available in different color combinations, including Rotor Grey or Magma Red and Pearl and Ebony.

The standard model will come in matt aluminum, headrests and door sills will get the S4 logo. The new MMI comes with navigation, touch controls, LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi and a text search function. In addition to the color-adjustable and LED interior pack lighting system, an optional head-up display and Audi virtual cockpit will also be available. Optional Bang and Olufsen sound system and an Audi tablet for rear seat entertainment are also available in the new S4.
