ATIEVA Changes its Brand Name to Lucid, Releases New Teaser Image

ATIEVA is an electric car maker who entered the automobile industry recently and within such a short period, the brand has already changed its name as Lucid.

The auto brand released a new teaser image showcasing an electric car of their own. There is no solid reason as to why the company would change their name but it probably has something to do with copyright stuff. Earlier, a leaked image suggested that the new brand Lucid will launch an EV named Atvus.

In the recently released photos, Lucid didn’t confirm whether the car shown in the pictures are of the Atvus. They revealed three different teaser shots that showcased the front fascia of the car, the dashboard and the rear end of the model. The interior shot showcase one of a kind dashboard with a stylish instrument panel.

The design team at Lucid is guided by Derek Jerkins, the man who already worked with Mazda and created the popular ND MX-5 Miata model. Electric cars are all the rage and the new brand plans to directly bank in on the idea. Instead of going the conventional route by launching petrol or diesel powertrains, the investors decided to go fully EV as did Tesla.

When Tesla made the big jump, the time wasn’t so favorable and they had to undergo a lot of hurdles before making their cars popular. The buyers are well aware of the advantages of going with an electric car. Besides, batteries are much more powerful and cheaper now offering great mile range at lower costs.

The automobile brand Lucid has been extensively testing the prototype model named Edna. The concept model is based on the Mercedes Benz Vito and is capable of delivering up to 900 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.7 seconds. The powertrain team is guided by Peter Rawlinson.

Production version of the car is set to start in 2018. The auto brand is looking for possible locations to setup a manufacturing plant. The batteries for the upcoming range of EVs are expected to manufactured in the same location. Nissan, Chevrolet, Tesla and BMW have all planned to launch new cheaper electric cars by 2018. They will not only be compact and cheap but will also offer highest mile range so that people could travel long distances without having to charge. It is an important year for car lovers to watch out for!
