Audi A5 Sportback Will Hit U.S. Dealerships in 2017

The launch date for the Audi A5 is really close and it was earlier assumed that the company will stick to coupe and convertible variants of the car. After all, these models have some great demand in the United States and is an ideal choice for the buyers.

However, a new report has landed and it claimed that the A5 Sportback is also set to hit dealership stores in the country and they will be available for purchase in 2017. The four door model is a worthy competitor and it is Audi’s trump card to compete against the BMW 4 series Gran coupe. Automobile manufacturers always aim to offer buyers a lot of choice so that they will stay interested in the particular brand. At the same time, they ensure that their competitors don’t stay ahead of the race with exquisite models which leads to each car getting launched in almost every category.

The announcement came from the company’s American president, Scott Keogh. When it comes from such a reliable source, we can hardly refute it. Besides, the announcement was directly made to the media during the 2017 Audi A4 event denoting its authenticity. The A4 is set to receive a complete overhaul in which it will receive brand new body styling and the renewed version will hit stores next year. While the coupe and convertible versions of the A5 has been sold in North America for a long time, the four door sportback model never saw an official launch in the region. It is much similar to a coupe in terms of its overall profile and design aesthetics.

Audi’s chief said that they are glad to announce and bring a brand new A4 to the region which has not been available in a long time. The powertrain details were not revealed during the press meet. However, it is expected that the car will use a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine which is already being used in the base model of the 2017 A4. The engine can render 252 horsepower with 270 lb feet of torque. A higher end model will feature a 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder engine. The company will fill their lineup with the S5, A5 and the RS 5.

More information will be revealed when the company announces the launch of the 2017 Audi A5 sportback for the US buyers. Pricing and powertrain specifications are expected to be announced in an upcoming auto expo.
