SUVs with a sporty design always have a great fan following among consumers. When they are fuel efficient and are capable of rendering unparalleled performance, it’s easy to woo buyers to go for them.
Audi is doing it right by expanding their S series vehicles further. The newly announced SQ5 TDI Plus is a new variant of the already existing diesel variant of the SQ5. The SUV has a V6 3.0 liter diesel engine which is twin turbocharged and is capable of delivering a massive 340 horsepower irrespective of the increased weight of the vehicle. The engine renders 516 lb ft of torque and can easily touch 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5.1 seconds. The top speed of the diesel variant of the SUV is 250 kilometers per hour/ 155 miles per hour.
Multiple features that are already found in the Audi S series vehicles have been integrated into the new Plus variant of the SQ5, including the robust all-wheel drive, rear sport differential, and better fuel efficiency despite the boosted engine performance.
The Audi SQ5 TDI Plus features 21-inch gloss black aluminum wheels and has an exclusive twin five spoke star design. Even though, it is a large SUV with spacious interiors and its body designed for comfortable long journeys, it is a highly economical choice for the average commuter. The vehicle delivers 42.8 mpg.
In order to achieve that exquisite looks, the designers have used gloss black trim on specific spots, including the door handles, the roof spoiler and in the exterior mirrors. The quilted patterns on the nappa leather seats make it look more posh than ever and the Audi SQ5 TDI Plus also has an exclusive “Macaw Blue” variant. The version is available only for the first 100 buyers who pre-order it. The Macaw blue color will be used in the exterior as well as every other interior accessory including the seats, floor mats and lever gaiter.
There is no word on the plus variant launching in the United States because of the type of engine that Audi has used in it. However, its German pricing has been confirmed. If you live in the country, you can buy the SQ5 diesel variant for €67,700. The pricing probably includes the extra features but the manufacturer is yet to confirm the same.
A bunch of official images are out from Audi. More details about their upcoming models and new launches are expected to be out during the Frankfurt Auto Expo.
