The Audi R8 Spyder surprised onlookers with its amazing design and technological features when it was first launched at the New York Motor Show this year.
The car made its appearance one more time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2016 edition.
It is easily an expensive option to go for, not just for the UK audience but for any buyer in the world. Based on official sources, we know that the next gen Audi R8 Spyder is to be priced at £129,990 and is set to hit dealership stores in fall 2016. The car is equipped with a brand new technology known as Virtual Cockpit. The design has been built from the ground up by Audi engineers. It includes a large 12.3-inch digital display and doesn’t have any analog controls making it look truly futuristic. The standard kit in the car has drive mode selector built-in combined with a leather wrapped steering wheel. The controls are mounted on top of it giving the driver easy access to the infotainment system.
The new Audi R8 Spyder is equipped with a host of new technical and connectivity features. Audi Connect is part of the car which makes it fully compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones. Users can conveniently connect their phones to transfer music, movies and other data from their device to play it on the car’s central infotainment system. A grand aural experience is guaranteed by the Bang & Olufsen sound system. It is mounted on the headrests to bring music closer to the passengers’ ears.
The car is equipped with LED headlights, has carbon fiber finish in many areas and can be upgraded with the Sport Plus pack if you like to. The pack brings adaptive dampers, exhaust note and dynamic steering. The sharp headlights found in most Audi cars are used in the R8 Spyder along with the familiar gaping grille and carbon air scoop. A drop top version of the car is heading to the stores.
It has additional cooling vents and the rear window is vertical which automatically retracts whenever the roof is lowered. Instead of going for solid materials, the Audi R8 Spyder features cloth roof weighing at just 44 kilograms. However, the automobile brand claims that it is stiff made possible by carbon fiber materials and an A-pillar support. The car is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 engine which renders up to 532 horsepower and can touch 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds.
