Bentley is heading to the Geneva motor show scheduled to take place in the month of March where they will debut the Flying Spur V8 with boosted performance and handling.
The company has announced that they will bring it to buyers this summer once the official reveal is over.
The Bentayga SUV is the most wanted car of the season. Without questions, it is a phenomenal success for the Bentley brand in recent years as the sports utility vehicle is loved by one and all for its design, performance and on-road comfort. The Flying Spur is a popular model which is getting the ‘S’ treatment which obviously stands for super or to indicate that it is a tweaked variant of the original saloon.
There are two different models competing at the moment – the conventional Spur V8 and the W12 which is Bentley’s flagship car. They have used an engine that conveniently allows the Flying Spur S to sit between these two vehicles so that it doesn’t cannibalize the sales of the brand’s other models.
Powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine, the car gets a total of 521 horsepower which is slightly higher than the basic model and delivers 680Nm of torque. While the change in overall power isn’t too high, it manages to make the car much speedier on the road. The new S version can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds. It is 0.3 seconds faster when compared to its previous model. The top speed offered by the vehicle is 190 mph.
Despite the increase in top speed, acceleration and performance, the engineers at Bentley have managed to keep the car fuel efficient and offer the same 25.8 miles per gallon. The ‘S’ model also promises to deliver better braking system, responsive throttle and new suspension tuning system for maximum comfort.
According to the people who worked on the car, the new suspension system enabled them to improve control over the car at top speed without compromising on features or design. The design has undergone slight modification including a pure black grille, new S badging and 20-inch wheels painted black.
Piano black wooden veneers on the dashboard provide the Bentley Flying Spur V8 S a sophisticated finish. The official pricing of the car will be announced at the Geneva motor show during its official launch which is probably going to be £150,000 in UK and vary according to different regions.
