Chevrolet just unveiled its newest 2016 Silverado pickups; a new model that features a totally redesigned and more aggressive front end.
Chevrolet had already announced that the refreshed 2016 Silverado will be available during the Texas State Fair. The truck is equipped with a new 8-speed transmission as well as a more muscular look that gives it a fresh look towards the front end. For all the V8-packed LT, LTZ and High Country versions as well as trucks installed with a V8 6.2-liter 420hp engine, the new 8-speed transmission will be standard.
Unlike in the past, where full-size pickups used to automatically sell themselves, things have changed and actually this new Silverado 2016 model is only but coming in to heat up the competition. This field is already dominated with models from GMC and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, but it seems Chevrolet has a point to prove.
LED lights on all 2016 Silverado trim levels
The new Chevrolet 2016 Silverado 1500 is actually a refreshed version of the previous model and it happens to be Chevy’s second year into the full-size pickups. When the preview images of the LTZ model showed up earlier this year, we noticed that there were new front-end LED lights. Well, there is good news, as Chevy will be installing similar LED lighting on all trim levels. However, it is only the High Country and LTZ models that will feature the LED lighting on exterior lights, among them turn signals, fog lamps and tail lamps.
Other changes on the outside include a redesigned hood and grilles that double side by side on the stacked horizontal theme of the auto maker.
New tech for the 2016 Silverado pickup
Technology is actually at the center of everything in the present world and automotive companies are embracing this innovation just like many other industries.
The initial models of the Silverado were some of the earliest adopters of the 4G LTE technology. However, 2016 is a new year that needs new things and as such, the 2016 Silverado will be equipped with an Apple CarPlay system as well as Android Auto. In addition to these amazing additions, Chevrolet has promised to include other techs such as forward collusion alerts, wireless charging of phones, lane-keeping assistants as well as automatic high beams.
Another new addition to the Silverado 2016 model is a remote-locking tailgate and for those who will manage to get the High Country model, well-designed articulating running boards will be there waiting for you.
Wider availability
There are a number of engine variants available for the 2016 Silverado pickup. At the lower end you will find a 4.3-liter V6 engine that manages 285hp and 305lb-ft of torque. Next in line is a 5.3-liter V8 engine that manages 355hp and 383lb-ft of torque while at the top of the list is a 6.2-liter V8 engine that outputs 420hp and 460lb-ft of torque.
For the first time, the 8-speed transmission will be widely available than before. It will feature on the 6.2-liter V8 models as well as on the High Country and LTZ models with 5.3-liter V8 engines. However, others will still soldier on with 6-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing and release date
In terms of cost, the new 2016 Silverado is expected to start selling at $27,850 for the short-cab work truck while the 4 by 4 High Country cab will sell at around $53,835. Chevrolet is expected to avail these new trucks in the showrooms this fall.
