Christina Aguilera rejected an offer to perform with Britney Spears, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez in Las Vegas Residencies. Her camp seemed to have dissed the three divas saying that she is yet to peak in her career and that she does not need to join the oldies yet.
The mentor-coach of ‘The Voice’ seemed to have annoyed many Britney Spears fans with this rejection. Her manager, Irving Azoff, said to VH1 that the ‘Toxic’ singer cannot be compared to the ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ singer whose career seems to have reached its peak and hence it was alright for her to be having a Las Vegas residency, which is known to be the capital of ‘has-beens’.
Irving said, ‘Not time yet. Christina’s about to go back to ‘The Voice’, about to finish her record, about to do another guest shot on Nashville and the record’s amazing’. Irving Azoff added that he did not mean to disrespect any of the pop stars including Britney Spears or Jennifer Lopez, but he firmly believes that Christina Aguilera is ready to do a world tour, but not yet ready settle down at Vegas.
Some fans and readers thought that this statement from the manager was quite conceited and haughty. Yet, Christina Aguilera has not tried to undo or correct what her manager had said giving everyone the idea that she agrees with him on this point.
Britney Spears seems not to care about what others think of her and she has chosen not to respond to this alleged diss from Christina’s station. According to People, Spears bonded very well with Kate Hudson recently and she posted a picture of the two of them with the following caption, ‘Two blondes… Too much fun. Loved hanging with you last night @katehudson’.
Christina and Spears are known to have maintained a love-hate relationship for some time now. In 2012, while discussing Max Martin, the producer, during an interview, Christina had said that Max is a legend in the business, but she is yet to work with him. When she arrived on the music scene, his name was heard along with musicians and bands such as ‘N Sync, Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys, the kind of people she did not want to be associated with, she had added at the interview.
