Hyundai is all set to show the world what they have been working on.
The N performance variant of cars is going to get launched in 2017.
Speaking to a leading auto magazine, the N brand’s head Albert Biermann said the i30 will be the first car in the lineup to get launched. The high performance variant car has been named as Elantra in the United States. It is expected to be built on the next generation hatchback models and the current generation will soon bid goodbye to the region.
Earlier, Hyundai announced that they have three performance based variants heading to take part in the grand Nurburgring 24 hour endurance race. Out of the three cars, one of them is the i30 2.0T. The car has been specifically designed and upgraded with lot of performance components by the engineers at the N performance division. Hyundai is launching its Veloster Turbo and the i30 1.6 Turbo. The brand managed to win the championship last year and are defending their title this year.
The N performancevariant of the i30 N is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine which has a top speed of 155 miles per hour. The tweaked version of the engine is expected to provide increased performance on the track. There is no word on pricing from the company but Biermann, head of the division said that they have planned to make the car affordable. It is definitely not going to be a commuter’s vehicle because of it being a sports performance variant. The car uses a manual gearbox system by default but buyers will have the option to go for an automatic transmission in the near future after the initial launch.
A wide range of changes are made to the racing cars set to showcase their mettle at the Nurburgring race. It includes a newly tweaked, high performance variant of the engine combined with new suspension, dampers, steering and wide bumpers for greater comfort even at top speed. The 2.0-liter turbo four engine found in the i30 is set to offer 259 horsepower combed with 227 lb feet of torque.
Apart from the exterior changes and upgraded components, the cars done by the N Performance will also have exclusive N badging on all their cars to differentiate them from other models. In the future, the division has planned to implement hybrid powertrains. They have plenty of innovative ideas which will be rolled out in different phases.
