Gigi Hadid to Feature as the New Face for Topshop’s Fall Campaign

Things are only but getting better and better for young Gigi Hadid. The 20-year-old California model has now been selected as the global face of Topshop Fall Campaign, which is set to launch in stores, print media as well as online in the coming month of August.

The photographs that will feature in this campaign have been taken by Tyrone Lebon and the person in charge of styling them is Kate Phelan, Topshop’s creative director. These shots feature Hadid in a casual look that is very cool and in the latest wares, courtesy of this high-street retailer. The appointment of Gigi Hadid comes in following two seasons of ads that were fronted by Cara Delevingne.

While there are some who may feel that the retailer went for Hadid just because of her social media status – she has a massive following of over 4.8 million people on Instagram – the belief is that the American model will help the company reach the international market it has been yearning for.

There is already ongoing work for Topshop stores in major global economies such as Germany, New Zealand, Canada and Panama as well as in the Middle East. There are also works on third party retailers in most parts of the Netherlands, Southeast Asia as well as in other parts of Europe; all of which are set for 2016.

The company went for a non-British model with mixed ethnicity in order to shed off a part of its British origin. However, this places it as a cool retailer meant for similarly cool women from all corners of the world and from any race.

According to Sir Philip Green, working with Gigi Hadid will continue to grow the company’s internal vision. Green reveals that the company has continually been developing its footprint across all markets. In addition, Topshop has some quite ambitious projects both in the U.K. and around the globe and according to him, Gigi is the perfect ambassador to underpin these ambitious efforts.
