Justin Bieber revealed his reasons for breaking down at his revival concert at the MTV Video Music Awards 2015 during his interview on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show’ hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
The concert was a comeback for the ‘Baby’ singer who had been in the news for a lot of wrong reasons including his brush with the law.
However, despite his great dancing, some excellent harnessing work and an overall triumphant performance, the audience seemed only keen to remember his inexplicable breakdown at the end of his act. When asked by Jimmy Fallon as to why he broke down that night, Bieber said, ‘It was so overwhelming for me, everything-just the performance. I missed some cues, so I was disappointed at that, and just everyone and their support. I was honestly not expecting them to support me so much because the last time I performed at an awards show, I was booed’.
He said that he had worked so hard for the albums, to be the man he wanted to be and that he could not help feeling judged. The ‘Where are you now’ singer said that this feeling of being judged made him want to win badly and so he put everything into that performance and when it clicked really well with the audience and his fans, he was overwhelmed with emotion. He could not stop himself from breaking down as it was a very genuine reaction, he added.
Fallon brought up the issues of his past troubles, including his run-ins with the law enforcement, which the Canadian singer-songwriter did not make any effort to deny. He defended himself saying that he was with a wrong bunch of people, whom he referred to as knuckleheads and being with such people did him no good. He was in the process of testing the kind of people who are good for him and while at it, he has made mistakes and being the celebrity he is, he was in the spotlight all the time and these stories were all captured by the roving camera, he added.
At the end of the interview, Fallon was very appreciative of Bieber telling him that falling down while fighting is not important; being able to get up again decides success. And Justin Bieber, Fallon added, did a great job of coming back with a bang.
