Lamborghini Huracan with Rear Wheel Drive set for LA Auto Expo Reveal

There have been plenty of automotive expos and shows taking place in the past few weeks. Earlier, it was the Tokyo show, the SEMA and now critics are already gearing up to see the big releases at the LA Auto Expo.

The popular variant, Lamborghini Huracan is supposedly set to receive a new edition which will sport a rear wheel drive system. The version will be showcased for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Expo. While the expo will take place on the scheduled date, this reveal will not be done in the show floor. Instead, the manufacturers have planned to reveal it a night before the show at the VW group.

It will reach the dealerships in the 1st quarter of 2016, but official pricing and specifications of the car can be known only when they reveal it at the show. A couple of months ago, Lamborghini’s head Stephan Winkelmann spoke at length about the possibility of a rear wheel drive variant of the Huracan. It looks like the company had already planned and started production of the vehicle when the press meet took place.

The idea behind launching a RWD version of a popular vehicle is to keep customers interested in their products and refresh the line-up from time to time with newer, better offerings. The existing Lamborghini Huracan is an AWD and is already one of the premium cars in the market.

However, in order to add the rear wheel drive technology to the existing model, the manufacturer has to increase the overall price tag of the car. The new RWD version will be much higher when compared to the model that is already available for purchase. It will also be lighter in terms of weight making it faster on the road, delightful news for people who already love the Lamborghini for its fast cars.

The company has been releasing rear wheel drive vehicles from time to time, but there has been a significant gap between each launch. The last in the series was the Gallardo from the house of Lamborghini. However, it was a car which was priced lower than the original model and had a manual transmission system.

Lamborghini Huracan with a rear wheel drive system is expected to be a limited edition variant and will be released only in select regions. When it will hit dealer stores next year, we will know how the buyers embrace this new model.
