Lotus claims that the newly revealed Exige Sport 380 is their most aggressive version yet.
The car is based on the Sport 350 but the newer edition is sleek, lighter and designed to offer an amazing performance with new aerodynamics.
The total weight of the car is pegged at about 1,066 kilograms but it is not the only option available. With Lotus, buyers always have the option to modify the vehicles as they like and a lightweight option will be provided that one could go for. Under the hood, a powerful 3.5-liter supercharged V6 engine powers the model which is capable of delivering about 370 horsepower with 410 Nm of torque. The car can zoom from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds with a total top speed of 178mph. The pricing of the roadster edition is at £67,900 in UK while the company is yet to announce the cost of the coupe version.
Lotus is all about lightweight, fast cars and the newly revealed Exige Sport 380 is no different. The model uses a lot of carbon fiber materials in the front splitter, the rear diffuser, rear wing and the front access panel. The designers have shaved a lot of weight off the car allowing it to achieve maximum acceleration and top speed within the least possible time. It uses a lithium ion battery and grooved brake discs which further contribute to the reduced overall weight. The racing seats are made of equally light carbon fiber materials.
The newer model features a large petrol tank that can hold up to 48 liters and the powertrain can be mated to an automatic gearbox if you please. However, the base model will feature a manual gearbox setup. The brand has confirmed that they will introduce the automatic version in Spring 2017. Existing owners who purchased the current model may be able to upgrade their car to new gearbox at a later stage by paying additional costs. Lotus didn’t discuss on the same at the moment but we opine they would provide this option for their customers.
The Lotus Exige Sport 380 is capable of producing up to 140 kilograms of downforce at top speed and it is a significant upgrade, over 60 percent higher than the Sport 350. The car also features new paint colors, exhausts and visual changes that makes it appealing to those who are interested in buying it.
