Maserati Levante is expanding its lineup in the UK with a new V6 petrol engine and they have also confirmed their plans to add a plug-in hybrid model.
The latter will come out in the next two years.
Maserati has always had a strong focus in the United Kingdom. Talking about the upcoming launch, Harald Wester, CEO of the brand confirmed that a petrol engine version of the Levante will get launched in the month of November this year. The particular model is being designed and built by the Ferrari team. It uses a 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine capable of rendering 430 horsepower. Such performance is designed to make buyers who crave for sporty models happy.
Earlier, the company’s rep commented that the UK market is better suited for a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine with 275 horsepower. It is because similar to the European market, there is a huge demand for diesel SUVs in the UK but things have changed in recent times which is what Maserati aims to cope up with. There is no word on the official pricing of the model but it is expected to be priced around £54,000.
Most buyers don’t opt for the petrol variant because it costs a lot to purchase and the expensive deal continues when trying to buy gasoline on a daily basis. The Levante S model powered by a petrol engine is expected to be priced at £60,000. For people in the region, it is good news that they will have more options to buy and a new plug-in hybrid in the near future. However, it is still less when compared to what European buyers get.
The plug-in powered SUV model is expected to hit dealership stores somewhere in 2018. Maserati boss added that with the launch of the Chrysler Pacifica, they now have the technology and the necessary resources to build a hybrid. It will be made available to all brands within their group and buyers can expect more such models in almost every series.
The Levante was first showcased at the 2016 Geneva motor show. The brand is going for some of the best materials around the globe including leather seats and a huge touchscreen system sporting an 8.4-inch screen. Engine options will drastically differ based on the region in which the buyer resides. The brand strongly believes that SUV has a great market which they look forward to tap to its full extent.
