Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet with Soft Top Coming Next Year

The 2017 Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet is going to sport a soft top and spy pictures of the fully camouflaged car emerged online giving a good sneak peak of what to expect.

While saloons and sedans are popular, the drop top Cabriolet continues to be the most wanted option among people who love sporty looks. After all, it ensures the most joyous ride possible in pleasant weather conditions. Such comfort and style when offered by a reputed brand like Mercedes Benz sweetens the deal. The spy shots proved that the company is in the right track even though it is really difficult to identify the design they are aiming to achieve.

The upcoming Mercedes Benz E-Class Cabriolet 2017 edition is being built on the same platform as the saloon. It not just uses the platform but sports the exact powertrain delivering similar horsepower and torque. The wheel base is obviously the same. It is being speculated that a Mercedes AMG E63 Cabriolet powered by a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine could be well on the way. The car, if confirmed will deliver 600 horsepower or more based on the modifications the engineers opt for.

While the camouflage keeps the design completely covered, it is possible to see that the front doors are much longer which is an obvious choice in every cabriolet model. The side windows are smaller allowing wind to pass through and give an enjoyable view for the passengers when the top is open. The bonnet and boot shows signs of changes but it is most probably subtle as drastic changes cannot be compensated by the particular platform.

The dashboard is equipped with a dual screen display enabling passengers to know speed, temperature, navigation among other information. The interiors have an ambient lighting setup with plush seats and autonomous driving mode is also speculated to be part of the package. The feature might make it easier for people to navigate long roads with little effort.

While spy shots of the car emerged much earlier, it will be months before Mercedes Benz officially launches the cabriolet version. There are couple of auto expos scheduled to take place towards the end of 2016 which is when you could possibly see the E-Class Cabriolet. We have very little information available at the moment but once the brand officially announces it, pricing of the model and exclusive features related to making the ride comfortable can be known.
