Mercedes E-Class Estate 2017, the fifth-generation model from this renowned auto maker has been spotted for the very first time during road tests.
This revelation follows a recent emergence of similar news of this E-Class Estate 2017 model, but it was under heavy camouflage, disguised as a sedan.
This is the first time ever a Mercedes E-Class will be coming in estate form, which is set for a 2017 release. This prototype features a heavy camouflage and it is expected to take a similar look as the latest sedan, right from the front to the back. As a result, the new Estate 2017 E-Class will come with new headlights shaped as those on the new S-Class and C-Class. Furthermore, the front bumper will receive some modifications as redesigned air intakes come in as well as a new front grille.
As opposed to its predecessor that spotted a square edge, the new Mercedes E-Class Estate 2017 will take a similar profile to that adopted by estate lineups at BMW and Audi.
Mercedes E-Class Estate 2017 to pack similar tech and safety features as the latest S-Class
Other than the design, we are aware that the new E-Class Estate 2017 model will also be packed with some of the latest technological innovations to help with safety as well as semi-autonomous driving.
One eye-catching feature is the Car-to-X communication system, which has been designed to recognize and communicate with other coupes. In the end, the system will help with reducing collision risks when negotiating bends and in junctions.
A selection of advanced sensors will also be incorporated into the new Mercedes E-Class Estate. All latest driver assistance systems that have been included in the latest S-Class will continue to be featured on in this new Estate model. Furthermore, there will be an updated safety kit, radars as well as cameras on the new car. The new Merc will also pack an Intelligent Drive and Steering Pilot System to help it negotiate bends without any driver input thanks to the fact that it maintains a safe distance from slow-moving cars using the adaptive cruise control.
Same engines as latest E-Class saloon
The new 2017 E-Class Estate will come with the same engines as those that will ship with the upcoming E-Class saloon. So, expect that this new model will pack a new ultra-efficiency hybrid engine, with the likelihood of having a 2.1 liter diesel engine, which will be available in E250, E220 and E200 guise. Furthermore, buyers will also be able to get a 3.0 liter 6-cylinder E350 CDI engine.
As far as the petrol variant is concerned, we might see a 2.0 liter engine in E200 and E250 as well as another 3.0 liter E300 engine, but these might wait until a later date before they come in.
The new Mercedes E-Class Estate 2017 is expected to cost around $55,000.
