Mercedes Benz is expanding its lineup of cars and the newest one set to join its family is the 2017 Mercedes Benz C-Class Cabriolet with a drop top. The brand has released a new teaser video to showcase some of the unique features that one could look forward to in the upcoming launch.
The video shows the car in action and as expected it keeps the top open in all settings. It’s all about providing people with a unique experience where they could enjoy the natural wind without compromising on aerodynamics and interior comfort. The clip shows the cabriolet being driven through various climatic conditions and roads with an open top. In one such frame, the car goes through a wind tunnel which is probably designed to let buyers know that the best of aerodynamics is maintained even in closed conditions.
While most models opt for a hard top which is made retractable, Mercedes Benz has opted for a soft roof top for its 2017 C-Class Cabriolet. It is not just the roof that is retractable but the model allows the wind screens to be retracted. The proprietary Air Cap system from the brand is used in the car which significantly reduces wind draft irrespective of the speed at which the vehicle is moving.
The front fascia of the car looks a lot like the C-Class coupe and it is obvious that the designers have opted for design elements from the original model. It saves them a lot of time but they have also invested enough attention to make minor changes to keep the car’s stability on road intact. When the top is removed, it usually shifts the center of gravity due to loss of balanced weight but Mercedes promises that they have addressed the issue in the most technical manner.
There is no official information on the powertrain used by the car but inside sources claimed that it uses a 2.0-liter turbo charged engine with a total capacity of 241 horsepower. It delivers 273 lb feet of torque. The car is expected to use a seven-speed automatic transmission system while some models may use a nine-speed system.
The official launch of the 2017 Mercedes Benz C-Class Cabriolet is all set to take place on February 29th. With just a week to go, it won’t be long before every other detail with regards to the vehicle including engine power, pricing and availability is announced.
