NextEV Plans an Entire EV Lineup of SUV, Sedans and MPVs

The new automobile brand NextEV is planning to expand their lineup with a whole lot of electric vehicles including SUVs, sedans and MPVs.

The automobile manufacturer is keen on making their collection complete so that they can compete directly with companies like Toyota, BMW, Audi and most importantly Tesla, the brand that has established itself as the top player in the electric car segment. Speaking about their future plans, Jack Cheng, NextEV co-founder said that they are working on a 70 kWh battery pack. When equipped, it should allow vehicles to offer up to 531 kilometers on a single charge, a massive upgrade for EVs.

“The range of cars from NextEV will have much better performance than Tesla cars and much cheaper,” he added.

Adding that their new range of cars will offer the performance of a BMW or an Audi car. But, they will be priced close to a Toyota so that buyers could adopt the electric technology without having to break their wallet. The upcoming SUV is a direct rival for the Tesla Model X and it will be manufactured at a Chinese factory, JAC motors. The next one to be announced is the ES8 sedan which will make its first appearance at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show.

The future models include a ES6 SUV which will be a rival for the BMW X3 scheduled to be launched in 2018 while another variant the ES9 will be launched the year after that. The EP9 is such a benchmark car for NextEV brand. The auto brand announced that they will have four different models in due time with a total of 1,341 horsepower.

Being the flagship model, the NextEV EP9 has the highest acceleration capacity as it can go from 0 to 60 in just 2.7 seconds. The top speed of the vehicle is 313 kilometers per hour making it a beast on the road and a worthy component to go against Tesla’s Model X, even with its ludicrous mode switched on. The big battery pack allows it to offer up to 427 kilometers range and supports additional batteries to further increase its range.

With such performance, the pricing should obviously be on the higher side. The NextEV EP9 is expected to be priced at $1 million which is comparatively less when pitted directly against other cars that offer similar performance and mile range. It might change the EV industry if the brand delivers as promised.
