SEAT is late to the crossover SUV market as most other brands have already launched their fair share of models.
However, the newly announced Ateca SUV looks promising and the company has confirmed that the car will be available in the first week of September.
The upcoming crossover SUV is being built on the same platform used by the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Skoda Yeti 2018 edition. The new SEAT car is the first edition made possible by a crowd funded project. The brand’s top executives have confirmed that they are entering the SUV market in a big way. It is the first but there are at least two other models scheduled to get launched in the near future so as to offer buyers different choices to pick from. The company’s boss Luca de Meo confirmed that the launch will help them boost the brand forward in a whole new direction.
Compared to the Renault Kadjar, the new SEAT Ateca SUV is smaller in size and instead of going for drastic changes in styling, the engineers have opted for a conventional design. The front grille and headlights used in the car is inspired by the Leon car from SEAT. It also borrows the squared wheel arches, bulging window lines and C-pillar finish from the same model. In order to cater to a wide range of audience, the automobile manufacturer is opting for multiple petrol and diesel engine variants. It is expected to help the Ateca reach new heights and a large group of buyers at once.
While the base model will offer front or rear wheel drive, there is an option to upgrade the petrol or the diesel engine version of the SEAt Ateca SUV to an all-wheel drive system and DSG. It will incur additional costs but for people who seek the best of performance, it shouldn’t be a problem at all. The tail lights are once again same as the ones found in the Leon. Head of the brand, Alejandro Mesonero said that the new Ateca is supposed to be a big brother for the Leon.
The Ateca uses a front wheel drive model supposedly and offers 510 liters of boot space. When it is upgraded to the all-wheel drive, the space will be cut short to 485 liters which is nearly the same as the Nissan Qashqai. On the inside, the car has a 6.5-inch display and there are 8-inch screen models available on the higher trim level. All connectivity and safety features are found in the new Ateca.
