In order to achieve a light and dark effect on the coat of silver used on the 2016 BMW M5, the painting has been done in different layers. It gives a new effect made possible by the components in the paint including an ultra-thin layer of aluminum flakes, glimmering pigment and a water based paint coat. When all these are combined together, they make the car look extremely shiny and appealing.

Base models of the BMW M5 were completely removed from the production and pushed into the new Pure Metal Silver Edition division. The paint was applied in three different layers and the company confirmed that they do it manually to give it the perfect finish. The first base coat is of glacier silver metal followed by the pure metal silver paint.

It’s not just about going all silvery and shiny on the outside because the 2016 BMW M5 also packs a punch on the inside. The car is powered by a 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 engine which can deliver up to 591 horsepower coupled with 516 lb feet of torque. Compared to the standard BMW edition, both the horsepower and the torque is higher by a slight margin.

The special edition Pure Metal Silver variant also includes M Driver’s package. It has a top speed of 190 miles per hour.

The upcoming next generation BMW 5 Series GT was caught on spy cameras while it was being test driven.

Car analysts opine the new model would be available with the B58 Twin Power I6 unit which is presently being employed in the 740i and 340i models. Additionally, it is believed that the next-gen BMW 5 Series GT would be available as a plug-in hybrid model and a diesel version.

While no official announcements have been made, rumors are floating that this model could also come in a hydrogen fuel cell-powered option. The only thing that is presently quite certain is the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo will definitely feature a much better profile than the current model.

BMW is definitely not going to confirm their plans of launching a brand new flagship, because it is something the company may prefer to reserve for a special occasion.

The team at BMW has been working day and night or that’s what we assume, based on some of the impressive designs they have come up with. Their latest launches are definitely a milestone because it not only impressed the buyers, but had car enthusiasts head over heels for its innovative concept and looks. While their design spree continues, the company is all set to showcase something unique at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. The show will take place on November 18 which is a good month to go, but rumors and speculations are already rife for every top brand.

The company has a couple of cars set to be revealed at the auto expo. There will be a 2016 variant of the BMW 3 series, i3 Electric model and probably an i8 Supercar as well. The BMW 330e is one of the anticipated models but surprisingly the ‘e’ in the model number doesn’t indicate electric, but fuel efficiency. The upcoming 2016 BMW X2 is being designed in a small, minimalistic yet premium profile in a bid to attract younger people in their 20s and 30s to the brand.

The new SUV is expected to challenge the likes of the Range Rover Evoque.

The Bavarian car maker has already launched its first small SUV dubbed BMW X1. Still, it believes that there is scope for another smaller SUV and hence the X2. The X2 is estimated to reduce the average age of BMW users as it will be targeted to attract young professionals who are keen on premium products with minimalism and design aesthetics.

The BMW X2 has been constructed on the same front-wheel drive platform employed in the X1. The X2 features a lower profile than that of the larger X4 SAC although both share the slopped roofline for a sleek rear-end look. The X2 is likely to feature five doors and reasonable sized tailgate opening.

Likely to be launched in 2017 along with the X3, the X2 is expected to feature an all-new design language. The typical BMW design is likely to be retained in the front end though with a contemporary twist. The front end would offer a sleek profile with narrow headlights while the rear end will be given a sporty profile with a small hatch opening.

The X2 is expected to share the interior design with the X1. The new BMW X2 is to be positioned as an exclusive SUV and will come with options of 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder diesel and petrol engines with options of either four-wheel or front-wheel drive.

The engines would be linked to either an 8-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox, again, with options of either all-wheel or front-wheel drive. There could also be plug-in hybrid versions available in the future. The company has recently commenced public testing of the X2 and its launch is expected to happen in about two years.

Development chief at BMW, Klaus Froehlich is extremely confident that the next gen version of their car has all the features, the exquisiteness and the competence to beat the S-Class from Mercedes. Talking about the upcoming launch, he confirmed that the 7 series plug-in hybrid model will set a new benchmark in fuel efficiency.

Apart from helping buyers save money on gasoline, the car is also expected to offer the best mileage in the electric car segment. Obviously, you don’t take the expensive Tesla Model S into consideration because other manufacturers are still in the budding stages of creating fully electric sedans.

“We aim to deliver at least 40 kilometers on full charge while the gasoline engine will take care of the rest from then on. A wide range of new features will be equipped in the vehicle including touchscreen interface with iDrive technology, digital keyfob, wireless charging among other new integrations”, confirmed the development chief.

In comparison, the Mercedes Benz S-Class offers just 33 kilometers in its plug-in hybrid variant. The new BMW 7 series car is constructed on a carbon fiber shell, which contributes to its lowered weight yet the sturdy feel for best drivability. The infotainment system has been upgraded with sensors making it easier for the users to wave their hand in front of it to complete a variety of actions. It saves time and makes it safer to make adjustments while focusing on the road.

The upcoming series is one of the most successful in their history. The earlier edition of the BMW 7 series cars had sold over 370,000 units, which BMW aims to beat with the launch of their next generation vehicles. Fiat Renegade, BMW M2 Coupe and Volkswagen Passat Launched in Australia

Three new automobiles including Fiat Renegade, the SUV from Fiat, BMW M2, the coupe from BMW and Volkswagen Passat, the sedan from VW were launched in Australia.  

The Fiat Renegade, the Fiat-based SUV which is a big hit in other countries will be available in Australia starting at $29,500 for the basic Renegade Sport manual and going up to $41,500 for the top-spec Trailhawk. The Renegade comes in four models, namely, Longitude, Trailhawk, Sport and Limited.

While the standard specifications are more or less the same for all the models, the high-end models are packed with added features. The base Sport model comes with a simple 5-inch color-display infotainment system, reversing camera, cruise control and cloth upholstery. The second-level Longitude model has additional features such as dual-zone climate control, blind sport monitoring and rear parking sensors.

The next higher model, the Limited, comes with more features including a 9-speaker audio system, integrated satellite navigation, heated steering wheel and heated front seats, bi-xenon headlamps and leather upholstery. The top-spec Trailhawk also has Jeep Selec-Terrain with Active Drive Low, hill descent control and Trailhawk-branded leather upholstery.

BMW launched its M2 coupe featuring the popular fattened profile and scintillating performance. It features a 3L in-line 6-cylinder engine linked to M TwinPower turbo technology to deliver an output of 272kW at 6500 rpm.

Peak torque is 465Nm and with the help of an overboost function, this number can go up to 500 Nm. The M2 with its excellent cornering and acceleration abilities is expected to take Australia by storm with its 4.3 seconds sprint to go from 0-100km/h.

Volkswagen launched its highly valued Passat with engines that deliver enhanced power, more safety equipment and increased number of standard equipment all at a starting price which is $4,000 lower than the outgoing model.  The body profile is more masculine and the interiors are simple and yet elegantly designed.

The new Passat is constructed on the company’s modular MQB platform and is more efficient and lighter than the previous model. The Passat will be available in one petrol (one 1.8L turbocharged with 132kW/250Nm) and one diesel (2L turbocharged with 140kW/400Nm) variant.

Overhauled and Upgraded BMW 7 Series Available for Purchase in Showrooms across UK

Car dealers across the United Kingdom will start selling the overhauled and comprehensively upgraded BMW 7 Series from 24 October.

The new BMW 7 Series is positioned to challenge primary rivals including the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8. The price range of the new vehicle would be between £64,530 for the 730d model and £76,320 for the 750i model.

The latest 7 Series has been totally re-engineered and features a new carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic strengthened (CFRP) body shell, resulting in enhanced robustness and yet lighter by 130 kg as compared to its predecessor.

BMW claims that the 7 Series is the biggest production model of the brand till date and measures 5,098 mm in length, 1,478mm in height and 1,902mm in width. Two wheelbase options are available, including the standard and the long-base versions with a difference of 14 cm between them.

The latest generation 6-cyclinder Twin Turbocharged engines are found under the hood. The 3L diesel and petrol variants have more power and are more efficient than its predecessors.  All the diesel models, except the long-wheelbase 730d, have the option of xDrive AWD transmissions with 4-wheel steering.

The new 7 Series will feature a new active chassis system called Executive Drive Pro which employs the Variable Damper Control and the air suspension to achieve a ‘remarkable standard of suspension, damping and vibration comfort’, claim the company’s designers.

The completely refurbished interiors feature brushed aluminum trims and employs a lot of wood. The car also comes with the latest and completely new iDrive control system with added features and a smartphone-like operating system.

An optional Executive Lounge Seating feature, to be available from July 2016, will feature highly comfortable and luxurious sitting arrangement for the rear seat. The backrest of the rear seats can be reclined to up to 42.5 degrees while the front seat can be slid ahead by an 90mm more to create added leg space for the rear seats.

Moreover, the backrest can be tilted completely in front and the head restraint can be folded down allowing passengers in the rear have a much better view of the front screen. A fold-out footrest that is electrically operated is embedded at the back of the front seat. The entertainment system is also electrically adjustable to get the ideal viewing angle for the passenger in the rear seat.

The rear seats also feature cup holders, storage compartment, fold-out table and the new BMW Touch Command system. Another attractive technology to feature in the BMW 7 Series is the remote parking function wherein the car will self-park after the driver has got out of the vehicle.

Another innovative technological update to be featured is the gesture recognition system allowing hand movements and gestures to perform tasks such as declining a call or increasing the volume in the radio.

Two hybrid plug-in models dubbed 740e and 740Le xDrive will also be launched in 2016. These models, however, will not feature Executive Drive Pro chassis system.

2016 BMW M2 Integrates Features from M235i, M3 and M4 in its Small Frame

The all-new 2016 BMW M2 combines features and goodies from three of the inspiring models from the BMW paddock including the M235i, M3 and M4. However, the extra features have resulted in almost near negligible weight savings from the previous M2 model.

The new M2 seems to be like a beefed-up M235i featuring lightened suspension components and active rear differential. However, the featherweight feeling that car enthusiasts normally expect from a coupe is absent as the additional features have made the new M2 weigh 3450 pounds (with the dual clutch transmission) and with the manual transmission, its weight is even more; 3505 pounds.

The sides of the bodywork have been increased by 2.1 inches in the front and by 3.1 inches at the rear to fit the 19-inch forged wheels that have the Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber wrapped around them.

The front part of the new M2 is inspired by M235i and features larger intakes (for the additional engine radiator) to give it a steroid-added profile. At the rear end, the M2 has been fitted with a diffuser (not present in the M235i) and the scallops holding the taillights add the extra width to the rear.

Under the hood, the new 2016 BMW M2 features a 3L inline-6 manifold-integrated turbocharged engine with a TwinScroll exhaust. The M2 also comes with Valvetronic, direct injection and Double-VANOS along with crank bearings and pistons from M4 and M3.

Consequently, the new BMW M2 promises an output of 365 horsepower at 6500 rpm and a peak torque of 343 pound-feet at a very low 1400 rpm. These figures are 45 hp and 13 pound feet more than that of the M235i respectively and just 60 hp short of the M4 coupe’s power.

The new M2 also promises to deliver better performance with the 0-62 mph reached in 4.2 seconds with the DCT systems and in 4.4 seconds with the manual gearbox. The maximum speed is the same as the M235i which is 155 miles per hour.

Despite the fact that the manual gearbox seems to make the new M2 slower, it actually feels faster. The ‘rev matching’ feature enables the engine to automatically blip the throttle so as to make every gear shift seem like a perfect one. Additionally, the components of the manual gearbox are coated in carbon fiber making the gearing shifting even smoother.

The new M2’s rear wheel Active M differential is a huge advantage over the M235i. It features an electronically controlled multi-plate unit for keeping the wheel spin under check for improved traction. In very slippery roads, the electronically controlled Active M differential nearly locks down one wheel to exert a peak torque of as much as 1824 pound-feet to prevent the wheel from spinning out of control.

The M2 also features electric power steering replacing the older and more inefficient hydraulic power steering. The 2016 BMW M2 is expected to be available in four colors including Alpine White, Long Beach Blue metallic, Mineral Grey metallic and Black Sapphire metallic.

2016 BMW M4 GTS – Limited Production Water-Injected Car Arrives in the US for the First Time

The 2016 BMW M4 GTS is dubbed as the most radical and agile M4 the German company has ever built. The limited edition of the M4 will arrive in the US for the first time.

No more than 700 units of the 2016 M4 GTS will be produced and 300 of them are set to arrive in the States.

What makes the 2016 BMW M4 GTS a special and unique car is the water injection system. The 2016 M4 GTS is the first production car with the system that is usually designed for race cars.

The water-injection system is specifically designed to boost gas mileage and improve power and torque all while lowering the emission. How the system works? The system injects a precisely measured spray of water into the engine and as the water evaporates, it extracts energy from the parts around it, which in essence, lowers the temperature of the engine.

We mentioned that the result is more power and for the 2016 M4 GTS with a V6 engine, that is 68 more ponies when compared to the standard M4. The 2016 M5 GTS produces 493 ponies under the hood, resulting in better sprint time, as the car can get to 60mph in just 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 190mph.

The V6 engine is accompanied by a seven speed dual-clutch transmission that includes three shift modes that the driver can use.

To compliment the improved engine, BMW has placed a specific and adjustable suspension in the 2016 M4 GTS that features bigger roll bars, carbon ceramic brakes and the electromechanical steering system. With all those goodies under the hood, the 2016 BMW M4 GTS is the most complicated and advanced M vehicle that the German company has ever built.

BMW has also managed to shed 200 pounds from the standard M4 thanks to using carbon fiber for the roof, hood and most of the aerodynamic add-ons.

The GTS model was initially designed only for the track, but BMW’s M division decided that buyers should get a chance to drive the extraordinary coupe. To make the 2016 M4 GTS more friendly for the city and roads, BMW has included parking sensors, A/C, fire extinguisher, special upholstery and navigation systems in the car.

The price of the 2016 BMW M4 GTS is not revealed at the moment, but prospective buyers could expect to pay much more than the $65,400 price tag of the standard M4 model.

2016 BMW M4 GTS Model: To be Launched in the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show

The all-new 2016 BMW M4 GTS model is ready for launch at the upcoming 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Dubbed by BMW as its most ‘powerful, agile and radical M4 ever’, the new race car, the first production road car to feature a new water injection system, is expected to deliver higher power and have lesser weight and ready to take the market by storm.

The most appealing feature to be included in the 2016 BMW M4 GTS is the new water injection system. In this technology, heat from the surrounding air is absorbed by water, and consequently a fine mist gets sprayed in the intake manifold from where it evaporates. Thus the temperature of the intake air is lowered which in turn leads to the lowering of the compression temperature, thereby enabling the turbochargers work with improved boost pressure and spark timing.

The final result of this water injection system is the output of 493 horsepower and a peak torque of 442 pound-feet. Both these highs are achieved with the same 3L straight-6 twin turbo engines that are featured in the regular M4 models.

Another attraction of the new M4 GTS is the lowering of the weight by about 200 pounds through the use of carbon fiber and aluminum, right across the construction, resulting in a DIN curb weight of 3329 pounds, as against the 3530 pounds of the current inventory M4 model.

Carbon fiber reinforced plastic or CFRP is employed in the hood and driveshaft which contributes to the overall weight reduction. Moreover, the new center console is 30% lighter than the current M4 model. Rear seats and the racing buckets will not be available in the US models.

The 3-way M coilover suspension system featured in the new 2016 BMW M4 GTS coupled with new carbon ceramic brakes (fixed behind staggered tires and wheels) add to its capabilities. The front wheels feature 19 inch rollers wrapped around by 265/35-series Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, while the rear 20-inch wheels are wrapped in 285/30-series tires.

The taillights of the new GTS are expected to feature an innovative organic LED technology. The interior of the vehicle would be luxurious Alcantara and leather. Additionally, the new car will come with a fire extinguisher and a roll bar. The color options include Mineral Grey, Sapphire Black, Frozen Dark Grey and Alpine White.

The new M4 GTS will feature only the 7-speed, M DCT dual clutch transmission system. BMW claims that the treacherous Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit was completed by this new M4 model in 7 minutes 28 seconds.

2016 BMW Z4 Model Should Come in Coupe and M Variants: Popular Demand among Car Enthusiasts

The 2016 BMW Z4 model should come in coupe and M variants, a popular demand among car enthusiasts. While it is rumored that the 2016 version of the BMW Z4 is being worked on, perhaps, being co-developed with Toyota, there is yet no official confirmation.

What seems to be a certainty is that the new Z4 will definitely be available as a convertible. It is most likely that the new Z4 convertible version will only be a top-drop since the earlier model did not have the coupe version. Even though the earlier model was a hard-top convertible and so with the top on, the vehicle could look like a coupe, it was not the same thing, experts believe. Coupes handle better and are much lighter and stiffer.

The E85 generation Z4 had a wonderful coupe variant that was loved by car enthusiasts for its nimbleness, lightness, speed and tightness. The lightness was more so as it did not feature the rigid roof structure and the power-folding roof mechanism. Even today, that Z4 coupe variant is highly desirable among car collectors.

The E85-generation Z4 offered an extremely pleasurable drive. It also came in the M variant, suitably called the Z4 M Coupe. It was an excellent car and because it is so rare, it has a prestige value attached to it. However, the successor of this Z4 version was not offered in coupe or M variants probably driven by insufficient sales of the predecessors.

The upcoming Z4 model is expected to be built on a lightweight, scalable platform and may or may not be co-developed with Toyota. However, it is definitely expected to be very light and will extensively use high-strength steel, carbon fiber and aluminum. This combination of lightweight and robust components make a coupe or convertible version is quite plausible. And an M variant is also not ruled out.

It is believed that if this automobile engineering concept is co-developed with Toyota, then Toyota would most likely employ it for the Supra successor model which could outperform the Z4, something that BMW may not like.

These factors make it possible that BMW will bring the coupe and M variant in the next Z4 model, an exciting proposition for car enthusiasts as the only convertibles available currently are the M4 and M6, both of which are quite heavy for the M variant. The car experts are of the opinion that an M roadster will be a really exciting version and sustain for a long time and the demand for it would outlive the production period.

Pinch and move is the command for a 360-degree car view. The 360-degree view or also called 3D view camera is made possible by multiple sensors and cameras. With gestures, the driver can actually see every look around his car. The system can also provide the driver with real-time rendering images of the environment around the car.

Touch Command Tablet

Another handy tech goodie in the 2016 BMW 7 Series is the introduction of bespoke tablet. This option is only available for the Luxury Rear Seating package, designed especially for business class drive experience. The tablet can be used by voice commands and control the audio system, mood lighting, sunroof, internet connectivity and much more.

Exercise and vitality program                         

We still do not know who will use this option, but it’s nice to have it. Thinking about the health and wellbeing of its passengers, the command tablet of the rear seats includes a vitality program that can transform the 2016 7 Series into a personal gym. This option is available with the “Rear executive lounge seating package” option, which guides the passenger through several isometric exercises that help people improve their health and stature. The exercises are presented on a large, 10 inch entertainment touchscreen display. All the exercises can be performed in the car.
