2016 Chevy Silverado – Refreshed Pickup Hits the Roads

2016 Chevy Silverado

The refreshed 2016 Chevy Silverado, with a more aggressive design will be available for purchase, this fall. Chevrolet had already showed the popular pickup, hoping to compete in the full-size pickup segment that is gaining more and more popularity.

Chevrolet will show the 2016 Chevy Silverado in Texas, a place where pickups are most popular. The new Silverado is available in all trims, including WT, LT, LTZ, LS and High Country. The top three trims in the class will get LED-exterior lighting, but the powertrain, the cab and box are already familiar to the buyers.

The chrome look is still standard for the Silverado, but the front end is now more aggressive and muscular, something that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from Chevy and its Camaro and Corvette.

This is the first time General Motors has refreshed the Silverado since 2013. Back then, the Silverado was a 2014 model year. According to sources, all pickups and trucks by GM will get redesigns by the end of 2018, when they will be shown as 2019 models. The 2016 Chevy Silverado is among the first in the list, but certainly not the last.

Inside, GM has placed several new features that increase the safety and the security of the Silverado. For starters, the pickup will get the MyLink system as an optional system that also includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Forward collision warning and lane departure assist are among the new safety features.

As for the exterior, we mentioned that the front end is more aggressive and that is all thanks to the new grille, hood, headlamps, taillights and much more. The biggest change is in the grille that now incorporates the headlights.

Powertrain and engine options are not confirmed yet, but sources speculate that an eight speed transmission will make its way into the lower entry models. According to some reports, the entry model of the 2016 Chevy Silverado will be a 4.3-liter V6 engine producing 285 ponies under the hood. Other engine options include 5.3-liter V8 engine with 355hp and a 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 420hp.

The sales of the Silverado are up this year by 16.6% and with the new 2016 model, GM can expect even more success. Pricing is unknown at the moment, but sources say there won’t be huge spikes in the pricing, despite the added technology and new design. For comparison, the 2015 model of the Silverado cost $27,700, but that was a basic version with two-wheel drive and regular cab. The average price of the Silverado last year reached $37,000, around 2k less than competitors.

Chevrolet Unveils the 2016 Silverado Pickup: Updated, More Tech and New Look

Chevrolet just unveiled its newest 2016 Silverado pickups; a new model that features a totally redesigned and more aggressive front end.

Chevrolet had already announced that the refreshed 2016 Silverado will be available during the Texas State Fair. The truck is equipped with a new 8-speed transmission as well as a more muscular look that gives it a fresh look towards the front end. For all the V8-packed LT, LTZ and High Country versions as well as trucks installed with a V8 6.2-liter 420hp engine, the new 8-speed transmission will be standard.

Unlike in the past, where full-size pickups used to automatically sell themselves, things have changed and actually this new Silverado 2016 model is only but coming in to heat up the competition. This field is already dominated with models from GMC and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, but it seems Chevrolet has a point to prove.

LED lights on all 2016 Silverado trim levels

The new Chevrolet 2016 Silverado 1500 is actually a refreshed version of the previous model and it happens to be Chevy’s second year into the full-size pickups. When the preview images of the LTZ model showed up earlier this year, we noticed that there were new front-end LED lights. Well, there is good news, as Chevy will be installing similar LED lighting on all trim levels. However, it is only the High Country and LTZ models that will feature the LED lighting on exterior lights, among them turn signals, fog lamps and tail lamps.

Other changes on the outside include a redesigned hood and grilles that double side by side on the stacked horizontal theme of the auto maker.

New tech for the 2016 Silverado pickup

Technology is actually at the center of everything in the present world and automotive companies are embracing this innovation just like many other industries.

The initial models of the Silverado were some of the earliest adopters of the 4G LTE technology. However, 2016 is a new year that needs new things and as such, the 2016 Silverado will be equipped with an Apple CarPlay system as well as Android Auto. In addition to these amazing additions, Chevrolet has promised to include other techs such as forward collusion alerts, wireless charging of phones, lane-keeping assistants as well as automatic high beams.

Another new addition to the Silverado 2016 model is a remote-locking tailgate and for those who will manage to get the High Country model, well-designed articulating running boards will be there waiting for you.

Wider availability

There are a number of engine variants available for the 2016 Silverado pickup. At the lower end you will find a 4.3-liter V6 engine that manages 285hp and 305lb-ft of torque. Next in line is a 5.3-liter V8 engine that manages 355hp and 383lb-ft of torque while at the top of the list is a 6.2-liter V8 engine that outputs 420hp and 460lb-ft of torque.

For the first time, the 8-speed transmission will be widely available than before. It will feature on the 6.2-liter V8 models as well as on the High Country and LTZ models with 5.3-liter V8 engines. However, others will still soldier on with 6-speed automatic transmission.

Pricing and release date

In terms of cost, the new 2016 Silverado is expected to start selling at $27,850 for the short-cab work truck while the 4 by 4 High Country cab will sell at around $53,835. Chevrolet is expected to avail these new trucks in the showrooms this fall.

2016 Chevy SS Gets a Facelift to Boost Sales

With the new look; the 2016 Chevy SS has the name “collectors’ car” written all over it. While the muscle car hasn’t met the standard sales that many were expecting, the new front face and exterior look of the 2016 SS might finally get people’s juices flowing.

Or at least, those who want to collect cars will get it because it as beautiful as it gets.

For the 2016 model year, Chevrolet is again tweaking the muscle, a four door sedan. The changes are minor and subtle, but they are enough to attract your attention.

Most of the changes for the 2016 Chevy SS are in the exterior area, where the muscle sedan gets a look very similar to the 2016 Holden VF Commodore Series II, which is the Australian twin sister of the SS. In order to improve aerodynamics, the new front fascia sends air over the front wheels. The move allows Chevy to change the fog lights that were awful and replace them with great looking LED lights. New badge on the front grille, hood vents, 19 inch aluminum wheels round up the change in the interior. And to top the design changes, Chevy also ads the signature and new color, the Slipstream Blue for the exterior.

With all the changes, especially the functional and new hood vents, the 2016 Chevy SS looks more aggressive, despite the same engine under the hood.

As mentioned, General Motors is keeping the current motor in the 2016 model and that is a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 415 ponies under the hood. What is different is the exhaust system, that Chevy promises it will be quieter during lower speeds. However, the exhaust system will go into overdrive and release angrier sounds at higher speeds. For transmission, the prospective buyers can choose between 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. With the news that the production of the Chevy SS might end after 2017, manual gearbox should be a more popular choice.

The big question for the Chevy SS is whether the muscle sedan will survive in the next few years. In 2017 Holden is set to end production and retire the platform on which the 2016 Chevy SS and previous versions of the SS are based. The Zeta platform will retire in 2017 and the question is whether the Chevrolet SS will go down with it. With the sales of the SS not on the level General Motors want, the scenario is highly plausible.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro is Fuel Efficient Yet Amazingly Fast on the Road

Chevrolet Camaro is one of the most popular cars in the world and Chevy is quite aware of this fact. They have been consistently releasing one information after another about the upcoming 2016 Chevrolet Camaro so as to keep the audience on their heels before the big reveal.

Building the right level of anticipation and delivering a product that exceeds expectations is the best way to make the launch successful. The manufacturer has been doing it right so far. Recently, they have revealed some more information about the car. The all new Camaro is going to weigh a lot less than its earlier models. The basic variant of the car will weigh at least 390 pounds lesser than the previous launch while the high end V8 SS variant will weigh 223 pounds lighter.

The car will be powered by a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine and with it having lost so much weight, it is obvious that it will be one of the fastest cars on the road without compromising on its stability. The engineers confirmed that they have managed to shave so much off its basic weight by using the Alpha modular platform. When combined with lightweight materials and futuristic production techniques, it is possible to make the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro weigh much less, giving complete control to the driver like never before.

Sources also added that even though the car weighs less and is supposed to be lightweight, it is built on a chassis that is 28 percent stiffer which provides it the much needed stability and grip on the road. Chevrolet has invested a considerable sum in Camaro’s production to make this impossible feat possible. They have used aluminum to aluminum bonding technology to make the car look as if it was constructed from a single plate than multiple parts assembled together.

By avoiding traditional welding methods, the manufacturer has created a car that features a fluid design, weighs less, yet, has a strong chassis. With these elements in place, it is no surprise that the car achieves great fuel efficiency with formidable top speed and acceleration. According to the team, their engineers not only spent time in the design and the chassis, but have also looked at minor elements like the suspension bolts to cut the threaded area, reducing weight, wherever possible.

We do expect to receive more impressive details about the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in the coming days before its formal launch. Stay tuned with us.
