The 2017 BMW 5 Series Touring has officially joined the BMW 5 Series models with its authentic features that buyers usually look forward to.

The car sticks true to the history and the 2017 edition revealed in official pictures sport a stylish M Sport package. Buyers have great customization options as they can upgrade their choice of the 5 Series sedan with all-wheel steering, all-wheel drive and roll stabilization turning them effectively into a Touring series model. When it comes to long trips, there’s always the question of having enough storage space to keep your luggage in. The platform now allows you to store 570 liters to 1,700 liters based on the model you opt for.

Next in the checklist is comfortable ride irrespective of the road conditions. The 2017 BMW 5 Series Touring is equipped with air suspension on the rear axle. It is once again a customizable choice that can be altered to suit the location. The rear seat is designed to be readily folded down and is made with 40:20:40. When all of them are in the folded position, they offer the 1,700 liters of storage space as mentioned above. You can also access the rear window and open the tailgate. The team has used some cool fastening possibilities that allows you to easily decide the placement of the rear seats.

Fuel efficiency is aptly managed by keeping the weight of the car low whenever possible. Based on the BMW 5 series wagon, the overall weight of the car drops by 100 kilograms based on the engine you go with. The BMW 530i, the lightest model in the series weighs at 1,640 kilograms and the Touring edition is slightly higher despite all the modifications they have done in the interiors.

According to BMW, the 530d xDrive is their most popular variant but the 520d which is more economical in terms of cost and performance will outsell the 530d in the long run. The car can go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than six seconds. The performance is more than expected for any customer planning to go with a Touring model. The brand will offer 530i, 540i and the 520d initially.

The Connected Drive system, large infotainment setup combined with gesture control makes riding a breezy experience for all passengers onboard. The car is equipped with semi-autonomous driving mode and it can effectively function up to 210km/hr top speed. Safety features include front end collision warning, parking assist and emergency braking functionality.

2017 BMW M4 Coupe and Convertible Facelifted Edition Revealed

The 2017 BMW M4 has been revealed officially.

The facelifted version of the coupe and the convertible cars are expected to offer some minor modifications to convince buyers to go for it.

The changes are restricted to the visual aesthetics of the car. If you already own the model or planning to buy a new one for its performance changes, the facelifted edition may not be the best choice. The car however boasts of stylish new additions including the popular lighting technology. The same has already been upgraded in the 4 Series models and is now found in the M4 coupe as well as the convertible version.

With the adaptive full LED headlights, the cars now offer much better vision. The upgrade is now available as a standard feature on all sporty models. It brings a fresh new look to the car making it look stylish than it already is. The M4 also has some prominent changes done in the interiors including a Navigation system Professional variant combined with improved Connected Drive features.

The customization options just won’t end because if you are planning to add the best dynamics to your BMW M4 models, the company offers the Competition package. While the base model is already tuned to offer the best performance on the road, the new package fine tunes the chassis, steering and boosts the performance by a significant level. The car delivers 431 horsepower by default whereas with the package installed, it goes up to 450 horsepower making it one of the best in-class performance.

The 2017 BMW M4 coupe and the convertible variants offer equally appealing engine sound improvements. The exhaust system has been modified to give the sound that sports car lovers have come to adore in the M4. The 666 M is a unique add-on that can be installed only in models that already has the competition package in them. The interiors of the car are lush with premium leather finish in every corner and combined with the LED lights among other aesthetic changes, the car is an easy recommendation for longtime BMW fans and those who seek a solid performer on road.

The information was made available on the official BMW blog but the company didn’t specify pricing and availability for the new facelifted version of the M4. It won’t be long before it hits dealership stores and when it does we will know how much it costs when bundled with the competition package.

BMW Loses More Ground to Mercedes in Latest Sales Figures

BMW’s slump in the North American market seems to be continuing after the October sales figures showed that the company had fared 9% poorer than last year.

BMW are coming on the back of a record 2015, but the company has been facing falling interest in various markets across the world. North American, though, has been a key presence for the company. The German luxury automaker has numerous production facilities dedicated to its models. The sports activity line-up of the X series is now only saving grace for the company.

BMW have revealed that the band could only sell 24,017 models in October compared to 29,439 a year ago. However, there has been a 21% increase in the sales of the BMW X3, which continues to remain as one of the popular models in the BMW lineup. Competitive prices coupled with the recent refresh mean that the BMW X3 still manages to attract a lot of customers while the same cannot be said of the other X range of vehicles like the BMW X4 and BMW X6. Up until now, these models have had a free run in the segment which has now been limited by the arrival of equivalent Mercedes vehicles.

The biggest benefactor in the X line-up was the BMW X1, which had a whopping 350% increase in sales compared to last October. The model came up with numbers of 2710 over last year, but this huge increase is likely to be down to the lack of inventories last year. BMW recently updated the X1 line-up with a brand-new design and features. Aside from the sales figures of BMW models not reading well, the company’s Mini brand also seems to be suffering with general lack of interest amongst North American buyers.

BMW are likely to blame the lower gas prices as a reason behind the interest in the larger SUVs rather than smaller sedans and hatchbacks. Even then, the company expects a major interest coming their way following the launch of their new 2017 BMW 5-series. The model may be a slight refresh in terms of exterior design, but it comes with an array of tech which clearly make it one of the best executive sedans in the market today. The BMW also saw the introduction of the latest 7-series only recently.

Since BMW have a fresh list of sedans in most markets across the world, the company expect a turnaround in the next few months.

Mercedes Benz E63 AMG Arrives to Take on 2017 BMW M5

The latest generation Mercedes Benz E-class has been a huge hit amongst buyers and critics, as the way the vehicle manages to provide comfort and luxury has elevated it above its rivals like the BMW 5-series and the Audi A6.

The Mercedes Benz E-class may stand for refinement and comfort, but it does not stop the AMG division from enhancing the performance element of the vehicle. Petrol heads have always been a huge fan of the AMG powered vehicles from Mercedes and the upcoming Mercedes Benz E63 promises to satisfy the needs of every diving enthusiast. The Mercedes Benz E63 AMG comes with visual enhancements to improve the styling along with a twin-turbocharged engine.

Gone are the days when the Mercedes Benz AMG powered cars used to have huge 6.0 liter engines on-board. Instead, the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG comes with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo engine lineup in the V8 format. A whole host of AMG badges across the vehicle will be sufficient to give out that this vehicle has a monster under the hood. The standard version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo enginedevelops a whopping 563 bhp. If this was not sufficient, customers can opt for the Mercedes Benz E63 S which delivers an astonishing 604 bhp.

The difference between the two figures may be substantial on paper, but the Mercedes Benz E63 S is only 0.1 seconds faster than the standard variant in acceleration figures from 0 to 60 mph. The standard car takes 3.5 seconds to do this run, thus making it one of the fastest sedans in the market today. It may be a small difference, but the Mercedes Benz E63 S is now faster than the AMG GT-R, which is the hard-core performance version of the AMG GT super-coupe.

As with every other German saloon, the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG is electronically limited to 155 mph but it can be removed by opting for the AMG drivers’ package. Now, the vehicle will be able to reach a top speed of 186 mph. Just like in the recent Mercedes vehicles, the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG uses a nine speed gear box which some find it one too many. In the past, performance vehicles from Mercedes have used a seven speed gearbox in order to stay in the power for longer. A highly intelligent 4MATIC+ system is used to distribute torque across the front and rear axles. The standard version will be priced around £75,000 in the United Kingdom with the S variant costing £8000 more.

BMW Unveils the Shorter and Muscular Version of Its Seventh-Generation 5-Series Cars

BMW has announced and unveiled its 7th Generation 5-Series car for 2017 year, which will be replacing its current model.

The new business sedan with an athletic look will be released in the global market by February 2017. The customers might look forward to the new 5-Series since it is a shorter and muscular version of the 7-Series car.

The Exterior Details

The German carmaker has adopted the concept of BMW Efficient Lightweight design and has extensively used high-strength steels and aluminum, which has allowed the engineers to decrease the weight of the car by almost 10 kg. The new 5-Series comes with a formal-looking yet an athletic body which imparts the look of a sporty business sedan. The glass of the twin circular headlights extends up to the sleeker kidney grille, which merges seamlessly and highlights the width of the sedan.

The sedan comes with the standard LED headlights that are available across all the variants. The BMW Selective Beam option will provide an anti-dazzle high-beam with an astounding range of 500 meters. The wide stance of the sedan has also been contributed by the circular DRLs, which extend towards the body framework. The sides of the car will come with a ‘hockey stick’ like highlighting which underlines the doors up to the rear. The tail lights stretch up to the sides of the new 5-Series sedan. The width of the sedan is complimented by the tail light which comes with slim L-shaped LED bars. Twin exhaust pipes will be available across all the variants of the new 5-Series.

The Interior Details

The new 5-Series comes with storage options that have been extended to provide more legroom to the passengers in the rear. The new features include four-zone climate control, comfortable seats with massage functions, and discrete perfume cartridges for fragrance. The new business sedan has been equipped with the latest iDrive system that covers most of the functions like entertainment, navigation, phone contacts, and other vehicle functions which will be displayed on the 10.8-inch screen. The screen comes with a full-color bright display which also sports a projection area that is 70 percent larger to provide all the needed information on the windscreen.

Under the Hood

The international range of the new 5-Series will come with two petrol engine and two diesel engine variants. For the petrol model, the modular BMW Efficient dynamics has been implemented to build a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine and another 3.0-liter straight-six engine. However, for the Indian market, BMW might probably introduce the 530i model which will be power driven by a motor of 2.0-liter capacity that provides a power of 250 PS and a torque of 350 Nm. The car will be a performance which can be accelerated from 0 – 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 250 kmph that has been electronically limited.

For the diesel variants, the 520d model will come equipped with a motor of 4-cylinders that has a capacity of 2.0-liters and produces a power of 190 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The performance acceleration from 0-100 kmph will come in just 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 237 kmph. The more powerful 530d model will come with an oil burner of straight-six 3.0-liter capacity which is capable of producing a power of 265 PS and an impressive peak torque of 620 Nm. The acceleration performance from 0-100 kmph can be reached in just 5.7 seconds with the top speed being electronically limited to 250 kmph. BMW has claimed that the new 530d variant has been improved by almost 13 percent when compared to its predecessor. An eight-speed Steptronic transmission will handle all the transmission duties across all the variants.

The new 5-Series from BMW comes with a whole lot of new features that include a Lane Change Assistance, Steering and Lane control, smart Auto Start Stop function, Active Cruise Control, and a Remote Parking System which helps the car to move front and back from the outside.

The international market launch of the BMW seventh Generation 5-Series will happen during February 2017, following which it should be launched in the Indian automobile market most probably by mid-2017.

BMW X2 is Gearing Up for a World Debut This Week

BMW X2 is gearing up for a grand world debut this week.

The event will take place today over the web and the company has planned to host a press event the next day to reveal the car in person.

The new BMW X2 is the second generation model that expands the X1 lineup and is being built on top of the UKL architecture. Based on the architecture that is being used to build the car, it is known that it will be a front wheel drive and buyers do have the option to upgrade their car to an all-wheel drive system. The biggest change is that BMW is going for a sportier design for the new X2 to offer a fun driving experience.

In terms of design, the new BMW X2 has undergone very minimal changes. It borrows a lot of design cues from the X1 but looks more aggressive. The roofline is sweeping than the previous model and the rear end has undergone some minor changes. The X1 and X2 has a lot of similarities which is not such a bad thing if you are already in love with the former model. BMW has gone with the usual motto ‘when it’s not broken, there’s no need to fix it.’

Under the hood, the car is powered by a three-cylinder powertrain and a four-cylinder powertrain. A 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will be revealed exclusively for the European audience. A 2.0-liter diesel engine is also part of the lineup. The top of the lineup will be dominated by a B48 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and it is expected to be released only in the United States.

The powertrain will be mated to a six speed manual gearbox in all regions while you can choose to upgrade it to an eight speed automatic gearbox option. The automatic gearbox will be the default option in all top of the line BMW X2 variants. BMW is also planning to launch a new crossover, SUV model in order to compete with the likes of Audi Q2 crossover.

Details with regards to the BMW X2 is limited at the moment. With just hours to go before the official reveal, we will be able to bring official pictures, specifications and everything else you like to know about the X2. The car is also expected to grace the Paris auto show that is set to go on floors this week.

2017 BMW 5 Series Upgraded with Semi-Autonomous Tech

A new order guide revealed some interesting features about the 2017 BMW 5 series.

The car is about to be upgraded with semi-autonomous technology to make life easier for people who spend a lot of time traveling.

The model is about to head into production in the month of November. The news comes from a leading automobile magazine. The trimline names have been modified and it will be addressed as the 530i, 530i xDrive, 540i, 540i xDrive variants. Apart from these confirmed variants, BMW has also planned to launch a 550i version which should be out in spring.

A 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine will be the prominent powertrain used in all BMW 5 series cars.It is also being said that the automobile manufacturer has planned to launch a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six powertrain as part of the lineup. The tweaked version of these engines should be able to produce more than 300 horsepower. It is already being used in the BMW 3 series and the brand will obviously would like to tweak it to bring out its best performance.

The 530i trimline will include basic features like sports seats, moon roof, LED headlights, fog lights, Bluetooth integration, full USB support, power front seats and a navigation system. All these features are found in the entry level 530i model and they will also be bundled with the Driver Assistance Plus II package. While it is not going to become totally autonomous immediately, the features give the driver more freedom and brings the car closer to a self-driving experience.

With the assistance package, the 2017 BMW 5 series models will have side collision avoidance, active lane keeping assistant, active driving assist, traffic jam support, active lane change and active cruise control which is connected with a stop & go functionality. So many features are bundled into a single package bringing the new 5 series close to calling itself as a semi-autonomous vehicle.

Apart from the Driver Assistance Plus II package, buyers have the option to pick individual packages like M sport, cold weather pack, luxury and premium packages. Each one of them will set you back by a specific cost and going for it is a purely individual choice or based on the location you live in. The information has been revealed through the order guide. It did confirm that the 2017 BMW 5 series will be a buyer friendly car with plenty of choices to choose from before they purchase their preferred trim line.

Fully-Electric 2017 BMW i8 Ready to Shock the World Alongside Other I-brand Vehicles

The 2017 BMW i8 immediately made waves when it first hit the scene, but newer editions of the highly-coveted luxury auto will most likely sport all electric propulsion systems.

While the current i8 model is partially electric, the newer edition of the vehicle is expected to be fully electric. And that’s not the only new BMW that will most likely be all-electric.

By 2017, experts expect BMW to have an all-electric fleet of i-model vehicles and will also launch an exciting new model entitled the iNext.

Somewhere in-between the i3 and 2017 BMW i8, the iNext is expected to be very similar to Tesla brand vehicles. While Tesla has gotten praise from much of the auto-consumer market for its advanced technology and rapidly-expanding fleet of next-generation vehicles, BMW is looking to enter the fray with similar stocked vehicles.

The iNext, like its Tesla-brand competitors, will be expected to come fully-equipped with an autopilot feature. Other than the iNext, the i-brand fleet as a whole is rumored to carry this autopilot feature. So without question, as BMW looks to drive ahead into the next few years, all of their vehicles will have similar features despite differing price points.

One of the noticeable aspects of the new i8 and i3 models is the creative decision as far as what materials the cars will be made out of. While the current i8 and i3 are presently constructed with carbon-alloy, the later models, particular the i3 may not feature such construction. Experts cite the expensive cost of using this material as the primary reason why BMW may opt to use a cheaper, less sporty frame to build the carts out of.

While the i3 will most likely be the first car to lose its carbon-fiber frame, expect the i8 to hang on to its beautiful carbon-fiber exoskeleton for a long time to come. Also expect the new 2017 BMW i8 to feature horsepower exceeding 500, and without question, trust that it will be leading the charge for future all-electric supercars.

2017 BMW M5: Features, Pricing and Brand New Spy Photos Revealed

BMW is going for overhauled design for the upcoming 2017 BMW M5 and the new set of leaked spy pictures confirmed the same.

A rendering of the car has been done by an automobile enthusiast located in Europe. The team picked pictures of the test mule spotted in Spain and managed to remove the camouflage using design tools. It led to us seeing how the new BMW M range of products will look like much before the auto manufacturer could show us their creation.

The front fascia still retains some of the specialties of a BMW car. It has the kidney grille while the exterior of the grille is chrome coated that ends in those sleek headlights. BMW is revamping the existing design into something new but they are also keen to not lose their proprietary aspects which helps people identify the brand.

Seven prototype versions of the 2017 BMW M5 were spotted on the road. BMW has been continuously testing different chassis and platforms to arrive at the right one. Many of them were spotted in the tracks at Nurburgring. The M5 car has been codenamed as F90 for the time being. It uses a lot of carbon reinforced plastic material, CFRP leading to substantial weight loss. The loss of weight will reflect in the car’s performance, dynamics, steering control and fuel efficiency.

While the auto brand is tight lipped about the powertrain they are going to go with, we anticipate the 2017 BMW M5 to be equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 Twin Turbo engine. It is being used by the current generation M5 and will be tweaked by the engineers before it finds its way into a next generation model. On paper, it is possible to push it to deliver up to 620 horsepower but might be limited under 600hp so as comply with speed regulations.

An all-wheel drive is another anticipated feature to be implemented in both the M5 and the M6 models. The xDrive system is a rear wheel drive system and it might need some changes before it can comfortably accommodate an all-wheel drive model. Inside sources claim that BMW is planning to offer manual gearbox specifically for the North American region while the standard will be a M dual clutch automatic transmission in other regions.

The 2017 BMW M5 is scheduled to get launched early next year and will be available in dealership stores in the following months.

2017 BMW 2 Series Revealed With Brand New Powertrain Options

BMW has made it official that the 2017 edition of the BMW 2 series is coming and along with it comes a whole lineup of new powertrain options to choose from.

They offer better performance and torque while being increasingly fuel efficient.

For a common buyer, the sheer number of engines available might be tad confusing but it expands the BMW 2 series 2017 edition like never before. The outgoing model will be the 228i which will now be replaced by the 230i. The newer model is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four rated engine which is capable of producing 248 horsepower coupled with 258 lb feet of torque.

As with most other launches, BMW has a base model and a top of the line version. There is a version designed to fit right in between these two, the M240i which is going to be the ideal replacement for the M235i. The model is powered by a 3.0-liter turbo six engine with 335 horsepower and has 369 lb feet of torque. The car will be made available in two different versions, the coupe and the convertible. Pricing will vary according to the option that the buyer goes for.

The top of the line is the BMW B58 turbo with I 6 which is the same powertrain as the one used in the M240i and the 340i. The team has upgraded the engine with a new cylinder head and an aluminum crank case. Other component upgrades include exhaust manifold, electronic waste gate controller and twin scroll turbocharger. Similar to the earlier model, the BMW car will be powered by a valvetronic variable valve control system. It uses double Vanos variable camshaft timing, in the intake as well as the exhaust sides.

Designers at BMW has done their best to increase fuel efficiency by using brake energy regenerationtechnique. The car is also equipped with an automatic start and stop function. While a couple of models from almost every manufacturer is moving towards a hybrid and electrified future, the gasoline cars are here to stay and will be around for a long time to come.

Acceleration capacity of the car has increased as it can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds when tested with the six speed manual transmission system. With the automatic gearbox, it can achieve the same with just 4.4 seconds. An all-wheel drive further decreases it to 4.2 seconds.

2017 BMW i3 Expected to Offer 114 Miles in a Compact Design

The 2017 BMW i3 is getting ready for a grand launch and the company has been working to upgrade it with newer features besides a powerful battery.

Newest reports confirmed that the car will reach 114 miles on a full charge.

All other automobile manufacturers are slowly finding their way to reach the benchmark Tesla has set with their new Model 3 electric car. The model is set to hit dealership stores in 2018 but pre-orders are already open and a large group of people has already purchased it. It is primarily because of the fact that the car is quite affordable at $35,000 and has an impressive mile range of 200 miles. BMW, just like everyone else should prove its mettle and they are doing so with one step at a time.

Instead of trying to go for higher range which might probably take months to develop and bring the vehicle out, they opted for 114 miles, an easy target for 2016. Powered by a 33 kWh battery which can produce 27.2 kilowatt hours, the car gets fifty percent increase in performance and cover over a hundred miles on a single charge. It is more than enough for people who commute within the city and travelers who don’t have plans to go long distances can rely on the battery pack to help them reach their destination.

The previous version of the i3 was much lower in terms of efficiency as it could cover 81 miles and was still in its early stages. The bigger battery used in the 2017 BMW edition has increased the overall weight of the product to 2,961 pounds. The car requires four hours and thirty minutes to go from zero to full charge. It takes an hour more than the previous model so as to compensate the increased battery capacity.

A hybrid version of the i3 is available which automatically switches to the two-cylinder gasoline powered enginewhen the battery drops below six percent charge. The option is available in the Range Extender model which delivers 38 horsepower and is not the usual powertrain that is made to provide the best performance. It is rather a range extender as the model name suggests to cover more distance without running out of power.

The 2017 BMW i3 can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 8 seconds. Color variants available for the car includes protonic blue metallic paint, silver, white, black and gray. New features found in the latest edition includes comfort access keyless entry, real time traffic updates and an universal garage door opener.

BMW X3 is Getting Lighter and a Sharp New Look

The BMW X3 is one of the most popular SUVs in the market and is always favored by buyers.

The model was originally launched in 2003 and even after a decade, it continues to be a strong competitor for similar mid-sized SUVs from other brands.

BMW is going to completely revamp the existing model so as to compete with other brands including Audi, Mercedes and Porsche. The next gen version of the X3 is scheduled to get launched in the mid of 2017. Official pictures of the car had emerged online giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the new mid-sized SUV.

The engineers have already spent many years in designing the 2017 BMW X3 but they have kept it under wraps successfully until now. The spy shots of the car confirmed that even though the automobile manufacturer is keen to upgrade the SUV with innovative changes, they are not going to change the car’s proportions drastically. They are instead focusing on reducing the weight with a new lightweight chassis and implement rear wheel drive system.

With the help of the new architecture, the team has managed to boost the car’s performance to an extent and increased its overall length with better legroom. The spy shots are extremely limited and the camouflage didn’t allow us to look through its design. However, it is evident that BMW is not going to bring any drastic changes to the X3’s design and keep it familiar so as to retain its buyers.

It is expected that the car will be showcased at the Detroit auto show next year. The entry level version of the SUV is expected to weigh around 1,700 kilograms, which should be 50 to 100 kgs lesser than the outgoing model. The car might be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine capable of delivering 250 horsepower.

Despite the changing trend in the automobile world where electric cars and hybrids are gaining popularity, diesel SUVs continue to enjoy strong support from the buyer community. BMW X3 diesel edition is confirmed but there is no word on the powertrain the company plans to use with it. All entry level models will use rear wheel drive paired to a six speed manual gearbox system. Four-wheel drive will be available only in select models and probably as an upgrade with an eight speed ZF automatic transmission system. We will know more about the SUV towards the end of this year.

2017 BMW X4 M40i Model to Leverage on the High Performance M2 Engine

BMW is launching its 2017 X4 M40i model with the high performance M2 engine.

The M2 engine is expected to deliver enhanced power, torque and a highly improved performance for the new BMW X4 M40i model.

The M2-powered 2017 BMW X4 M40i model is estimated to have an output of 370 horsepower driven by the enhanced efficiency of the M2 engine whose parts have been borrowed both from the M4 and M3 engines. The peak power delivery presently for the M40i model is 360 hp which is achieved between 5800 and 6000 RPM. The new M2 engine is expected to enhance this not-so-great performance much further.

The M Performance torque is estimated to be 465 Nm, a huge increase from the 400 Nm peak torque of the existing inventory of xDrive35i models. While the M2 engine’s N55B3OTO unit is estimated to have this same peak torque, it could reach a peak of 500 Nm by leveraging on the ‘overboost’ function for short performance bursts.

Using the above data, the fastest performance figures (time to reach from 0-62 mph) for the M2-powered BMW X4 M40i would be 4.3-4.4 seconds. This is expected to be achieved by taking advantage of the 7-speed manual Dual Clutch Transmission system. For the sake of comparison, the M4-powered 7-speed DCT gearbox fitted vehicles achieve the 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds while the 8-speed auto transmission system fitted M235i xDrive vehicles do it in 4.6 seconds.

The difference of 0.2-0.3 seconds between the M4 and M2 engines is attributable to the manual transmission system of the BMW X4 M40i.

The pricing of the M2-powered M40i model is estimated to be between the M4 (starting at $65,400) and the M235i (starting at $46,100) models. Hence it is estimated that the starting price of the new M40i models will be approximately $50,000.

Again, for the sake of comparison, the starting price of the Cayman CTS which is comparable (with regards to performance) to this new BMW model is $75,200. Another comparative model (again with regards to performance); the 911 Carrera is even pricier, starting at $89,400.

2017 BMW X4 M40i – Leaked Images Show First Glimpse at Interior

BMW will take the performance crossover section a step further with the planned 2017 BMW X4 M40i. Courtesy of some leaked images, we now finally have a glimpse at the car, showing some impressive work done by BMW, not only inside the car, but on the exterior as well.

We also know some of the details regarding the powertrain options. The M40i will be BMW’s flagship in the X4 lineup.

The main difference inside the performance crossover is at the steering wheel. Aside from the new M-Sport steering wheel, and new sill plates, everything inside is exactly the same as in the 2016 X4 with M-sport package. The door sills carry the name of the M40i model, adding a special touch and character to the interior.

The 2017 BMW X4 M40i will carry more power than regular X4 and the styling of the body complements the bigger aggressiveness of the performance crossover. The new styling pack includes deep front bumper, new rear bumper with new exhaust system that now includes split single exhaust system on both sides of the bumper, 19 inch alloy wheels, side skirts and much more. The 19 inch alloy wheels are specific for the 2017 X4 M40i and are wrapped in low profile tires. The M emblems sprinkle all around the wheels.

However, fans of the BMW X4 lineup will notice that much in the exterior is same as with the current BMW X4 crossovers. The 2017 BMW X4 M40i is the sixth model in the M Performance lineup, following the likes of the M135, M550d, X6 M50d and some others.

The 2017 BMW X4 M40i will get a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine under the hood that can produce up to 355hp. Paired with an all-wheel drive system and eight speed automatic transmission, the 2017 M40i will sprint to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds which is a little faster than the standard X4 model. The current X4 xDrive 35i sprints to 60mph in 5.5 seconds. The extra power doesn’t bring much higher top speed though, as the 2017 X4 M40i is limited to 155mph.

What is impressive is that BMW will keep the 2017 M40i in the range of highly efficient vehicles. Despite the more powerful engine and performance gains, fuel consumption is still 8.6 liters per 100km.

2017 BMW G30 5 Series Breaks 7 Year Cycle, New Tech Lands Much Earlier

The long running tradition will probably come to an end when the 2017 BMW G30 5 series car and other vehicles in the class get launched.

The world used to be different in the past which allowed the car manufacturer to follow a 7 year cycle to introduce new generations. New technology, features and series of cars will be introduced in this pattern, but in a recent meet, CEO of BMW, Harald Krueger informed that it is not possible to carry on with the tradition. He stated that the world is changing at a rapid pace and in the near future, more technology will be introduced without the 7-year hiatus.

Such a cycle was originally established by multiple car manufacturers, because when groundbreaking technology is launched with the top end, flagship vehicle, seven years were mandatory for every other model to cope up with it. However, times have changed and the new G30 is a great example.

Everything the 7 series missed will be found in the 5 series and the newly leaked interior screenshots confirm the same. The G30 will be extremely light, made possible by aluminum and magnesium, in association with CFRP, which will contribute to the luxury quotient, drivability and the mileage rendered by the vehicle. Sources confirm that it will be at least 130 kilograms lesser than the 7 series. It will also adopt the headlight and taillight designs from its bigger brother to achieve that luxurious outlook.

The 2017 BMW G30 5 series is expected to be powered by quad turbocharged engines, which may vary from 2-liter and 4-liter models to 3-liter inline 6S. There could be some plug-in hybrid models as well. Of late, many manufacturers have been producing cars that run on both electricity and gasoline, to usher in the e-car era.

BMW will not miss such an opportunity, but will ensure that only a limited number of vehicles are hybrids. Every other 5 Series model will follow the traditional path and should offer 218 horsepower on gasoline. The diesel version will use quad turbocharged engines, with at least one electric engine and deliver 400 horsepower.

The interior of the new series is expected to get a makeover, but a majority of the board members at BMW are against the idea. A conventional design with some new features is what they want. The leaked prototype images show little about the car and we may have to wait for an official reveal to know more about its specifications.
