Bentley has some surprising announcements to make to beat their rival Land Rover from Jaguar.
The brand has decided to reduce the cost of their SUV model by at least $7000 so as to make some better sales.
Bentley Bentayga is coming in the month of April and when it does, it will be priced much lower than its closest competitor the Range Rover SV Autobiography. The car will be powered by a V8 triple turbo diesel engine variant which has been specifically designed to compete in the Australian Grand Prix in 2017. Commenting on the new launch, David Simpson, Asia Pacific manager commented that the powerful new variant is geared towards offering the best towing capacity for the car.
“We are looking forward to reach out to a new set of customers and the new Bentley Bentayga should help us accomplish our goals. The powerful variant is also expected to be more of a collector’s edition for people who like to have the best of everything under their belt. Someone who has a Ferrari for speed and performance can go for the Bentayga for its pulling power,” said Simpson.
Expressing his delight on creating the best off-road vehicle, Simpson said that they are really proud for having created one of the best off-roaders that buyers could go for. “Be it for those who live in the city with an occasional trip to the outskirts or those who spend majority of their time driving the Bentley Bentayga in rough road conditions, our car should suit them all in terms of performance, towing capacity and comfort,” he said.
A couple of features introduced in the new facelifted model include parking assist, city safe, adaptive cruise control, automatic start stop functionality and a lot of other additions to make it a perfect fit for commuters in the city. Simpson clarified that the diesel engine of the Bentayga is the most favored and will start with a price tag of $399,000.
The upcoming model is geared towards buyers in Australia and a similar variant is expected to be out in US, UK among other prominent regions. It may be sometime before the concept model goes into production and we expect it will undergo some changes to offer best performance while balancing its overall experience. Being on the expensive side, the car should meet a lot of expectations and it just might do.
The debate is an ongoing one where top automobile manufacturers like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls Royce among others are still skeptical about adopting an electric motor for their cars.
While Audi, BMW, Ford and many more brands which make cars for the average buyer readily embraced hybrids and fully electric vehicles, the big players couldn’t do so. They have obvious reasons as an electric motor is yet to technically advanced so as to deliver increased horsepower. Such performance is synonymous with a Ferrari or Bentley which prevents them from simply jumping into the bandwagon.
After a lot of consideration, the Bentley Mulsanne has finally decided to adopt electric power. The launch however will be limited to China for the moment. The region has become such an important market for Bentley ever since they officially launched the Bentayga SUV. It is an ultra-luxurious SUV and the brand is expanding its line up with the new Mulsanne. The Chinese market is quite a big one and one can hardly say no to it.
If Bentley is keen on selling their cars in the country, they are supposed to agree and abide by the rules set by the government. Electrifying their cars is an important condition which has pushed the company to implement it in the new Mulsanne. Talking to a leading automobile magazine, Hans Holzgartner said, “From what we have seen so far, if we are to get our hybrid vehicles into China, we are supposed to have a full electric model. If there is at least, there is an opportunity to introduce hybrids in the region. This is the reason that pushed us into adopting the new technology.”
The top end cars are always about luxury and offering a comfortable ride for the passengers. Holzgartner commented that when they switch to an all-electric model, the car becomes extremely silent than it has ever been with a low-end torque. It offers the elite experience they have always craved for making it an ideal match for the Bentley brand.
The only hurdle at the moment is that Sports cars are usually on the expensive side and it is not an easy sell despite the number of buyers in a country like China. They are mounted with huge batteries, many luxurious components and of course, a breathtaking price tag. The brand’s marketing manager said that they faced a lot of challenges with the new Mulsanne EV which was fun for the entire team, as they learned a lot.
The 2017 Bentley Continental GT Speed is the most popular car of the moment because it belongs to the limited sports sedan category and is getting a huge refresh before the next gen variant hits the shores.
With such a powerful engine on the inside coupled with stylish exterior and a sporty finish, it is obviously not the vehicle for your everyday usage. The official pricing for the 2017 GT Speed is $240,300. The pricing is for the base model which might surprise most buyers. But, there are actually base variants and high end variants even when it comes to expensive sports cars. The Black Edition is the top of the line from Bentley which is priced higher at $253,235.
For those who have excess cash to spend and don’t mind spending a fortune to own a convertible version of a sports sedan, the 2017 Bentley Continental GT Speed is available in a convertible variant priced at $264,300. The Black edition trim of the convertible is priced at $277, 235. Surprisingly, the pricing announced by the company doesn’t include destination charges. Bentley is still considering the costs so that they could fix the same fee for people living throughout the United States.
The powerful GT Speed is powered by a 6.0-liter twin turbo W12 engine which is capable of producing an amazing 633 horsepower coupled with 619 lb feet of torque. The numbers are higher than the existing GT edition which delivers 626 horsepower with 605 lb feet of torque. The model uses an eight speed automatic transmission system. The brand executives announced during the launch that their car can reach a top speed of 206 miles per hour and its acceleration capacity is 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds.
Bentley launched the new edition of the sports car at the New York auto show held last week. The company has also released a couple of live photos of the model. The GT lineup is being expanded so as to offer buyers plenty of choices to pick from. However, there is no word on the next generation sports car from Bentley. The company’s top engineers are working to create a vehicle that could match the hype GT has created throughout the years.
The production period is being filled with newer versions of the GT including the newly announced GT Speed, Black Edition and the Convertible variants. Buyers who pre-order the car will start receiving their vehicles this summer.
The current 2017 Bentley Continental GT Speed is getting a new upgrade with some minor improvements.
The official pricing of the car has been pegged at $240,300.
It may be a couple of years before Bentley decides to replace the GT Speed with a new and improved version of the high performance sports car. Meanwhile, the brand is trying to boost sales by adding new components and making the existing model appealing to buyers. The car is now more powerful with increased acceleration and performance. It has been aptly named as the Black Edition model which also features a wide range of amazing visual changes to appease the sports car patrons.
The 2017 edition of the GT Speed is powered by a 6.0-liter twin turbocharged W 12 engine. The powertrain is capable of delivering a total of 633 horsepower coupled with 620 pound feet of torque. The peak torque capacity of the engine falls somewhere between 2000 and 5000 rpm. It is paired with an eight speed automatic transmission system and uses an all-wheel drive in all variants of the car. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds. The car delivers a total top speed of 206 miles per hour.
Compared to the new model, the current version of the Bentley Continental GT Speed is slower as it needs a whole 4 seconds to race from 0 to 60 mph. The top speed of the older version of the car is 203 mph while the newer model delivers 206 mph which is a minor yet notable improvement in performance.
The next gen version of the cars was unveiled in a special event hosted by Bentley. The event was held in New York amidst media. The event not only detailed the features of the car but also unveiled the pricing of each model. Bentley confirmed that they will be rolling out the models this summer.
It will be rolled out in different phases and not all at once. The 2017 Bentley Continental GT Speed is priced at $240,300 and the Black Edition is priced at $253,235. The Convertible is priced at $264,300. The Black Edition convertible is the top of the line model and it is priced at $277,235. The pricing confirmed by the automobile manufacturer during the event doesn’t include destination charges which will add up to the total costs. For long time GT fans, the upgrade is a much needed boost they have been looking forward to.
The chief of Bentley, Wolfgang Durheimer confirmed that their company will launch the first plug-in hybrid car in the next two years.
Earlier rumors claimed that Bentayga plug-in will come as soon as the SUV version of the car came out last year.
Bentley has been long looking forward to launch an electrified version of their popular car. But, before making huge investments to come up with batteries for the cars, they decided to slow down the process until the market turns favorable for plugins and EVs. The automobile industry underwent a rapid change not only to curb emission but also to give customers a brand new way to scale those miles without having to worry about emptying their gasoline tanks.
Sensing the time to be right for launching electrified cars, Bentley’s chief marketing officer and important executives from the team confirmed the company’s future plans. Within two years, they will have at least one hybrid car in stores. It will not only be limited to the Bentayga lineup but is to be expanded to multiple models that Bentley has under its brand.
The automobile manufacturer added that instead of opting for a single car that is purely electrified with a battery, they will focus on adding hybrid powertrains to all the existing models. It allows them to enhance their cars before focusing on something that is still considered futuristic because of mile range and reliability. Cost plays an important role even though Bentley is not known for cheap cars, they are supposed to keep things affordable for their elite crowd.
“When the world is ready to embrace fully electric vehicles, we will come out with a Bentley which runs on battery,” said the company’s boss. The manufacturer is also looking forward to launch their first ever diesel powered car within a year but due to strict rules in multiple regions, the car will be available in specific countries. In other words, it is hardly going to reach majority of the customers due to emission issues on diesel cars and production costs.
Europe is where Bentley aims to launch their diesel cars whereas most other countries are experiencing a dip in oil prices making it easier for them to afford petrol cars. By opting to go with electric vehicles, they aim to satisfy the requirements of every type of buyer – be it someone who seeks sporty, luxury cars and those who like to be always ahead of the technology curve.
