2022 Mercedes Benz AMG GT73e Four-Door PHEV Coming Soon, Spy Shots In

Mercedes Benz AMG spy shots

Mercedes Benz in association with AMG is not going to be left out in the race as the company is already working on a plug-in hybrid variant to be revealed soon.

The spy shots comprise of the upcoming 2022 Mercedes Benz AMG GT73e four-door edition with its regular powertrain. Obviously, they would have tweaked the engine to deliver better than the previous model which was revealed way back in 2017.

Instead of fully enveloping the car with camouflage, the makers have decided to hide the tail light area and some specific zones. It allows us to easily have a glance on the overall design of the car and it remains largely unchanged. The reason why they didn’t choose to hide the entire car confirms that it is going to be a familiar ride for people who already own the GT edition but with minor changes to justify the new launch.

Even though, the original variant was launched back in 2017, the V-8 engine used in the car was impressive in terms of performance and its sheer power. The newest edition surprisingly will manage to beat all the records set by the older V8 engine and will be a solid launch as it has been slated to hit stores in 2022. In select markets, the new GT73e may possibly get launched towards the end of 2021 which should give us a quick preview of the improvements the manufacturer makes.

Under the Hood Changes

As expected and speculated in the past, the 2022 Mercedes Benz AMG GT73e will be equipped with an amazing V8 engine but a V12 engine is also on the cards. The letter e indicates that it will be a partially electrified variant and make use of plug-in hybrid technology. Under the hood, the car’s AMG tuned engine V8 variant will be a 4.0-liter twin turbocharged variant capable of delivering a whopping 805 horsepower. This is considered to be reserved for the range topping variant.

The GT 63 S which falls in the lower bracket will be limited to 630 horsepower. The acceleration capability will be higher as it can reach 62mph in just 3 seconds or possibly even less. The GT 63S holds the record at 3.2 seconds with its current model and the new variant should top it up. The pricing of the new variant including the PHEV edition is not known at this point of time. It will be a premium price tag without questions.

2021 Mercedes Benz GLA Malaysian Launch Reveals GLA200, GLA250 AMG Edition

Amidst a slew of launches that includes many hybrids from major brands, the 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA editions have found their way to the Malaysian market.

The list includes AMD editions and has been improved from the outgoing editions as they are now mounted on the Modular Front Architecture, also known as MFA.

Buyers living in the country should definitely make up their mind and buy the 2020 edition as they could save a massive amount in discounted pricing. The SST or the Sales, Service Tax in Malaysia always add up to the majority of the car’s actual cost. However, anyone planning to buy it immediately will be able to benefit by cutting off 50% of the total costs from this SST pricing. The GLA 250 AMG edition could possibly be a dream come true for many which retail for RM 285,337 while the GLA 200 progressive line is slightly more affordable, priced at RM 244,200.

With at least a month to go before the pricing increases on the 1st of February, you will be paying 10,000RM more or so based on the model of your choice. The discount available right now will be provided after the deadline is over. The GLA 200 is an easier reach for any which is powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. The powertrain is capable of delivering about 163PS at 5,500 rpm. The engine has been mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The top speed is at 210 kilometers per hour while it can reach 100kmph in just 8.7 seconds, making it an all-rounder edition.

Design Changes

The front has an aggressive design as expected as it features a much larger grille than the outgoing model. The LED headlights are less aggressive yet the full lights combined with a larger bumper provide an overall striking look to the car. The AMD edition of the 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA focuses on being more sportier yet has a luxurious finish to it.

The GLA 200 has an 18-inch split alloy while the GLA 250 has a larger 19-inch split alloy design. Comparing both these models doesn’t do justice to the fact that AMG is involved in making the second variant more potent and a worthy addition to the asking price. While these timely offers are great, most buyers may consider waiting for another month to see if any equivalent competitor joins the race.

Mercedes Benz Will Make EVs, Autonomous Not on their Cards Anymore

Designing and launching a car that can automatically drive itself to its location is still a far off dream according to Mercedes Benz.

While Tesla and many other automobile brands are offering an autonomous solution with varying degrees, to keep things simple Mercedes is no longer part of this race.

Similar to how some technologies will take more time before they can be officially announced to the public, autonomous driving is highly experimental. Google cars and Tesla implemented it on a large scale but it still requires the driver to be seated in the driving seat. They are also expected to keep their hands on the steering wheel to keep the driving possible or else the car would usually come to a stop. Mercedes showcased the F 015 luxury in motion concept car revealing how cars would look in the next five years.

According to a publication in Germany, Dieter Zetsche, head of the firm is focusing on strong profits but pursuing innovation in the right direction. He commented that they no longer rely on just innovation like sharing cars or trying to make cars achieve the highest level of autonomous. With so many limitations, the company’s head said, “we are not going to compete in a race that will not enable us to win and this doesn’t make logical sense to keep going in that direction.”

Software is Still Not There

According to Mercedes Benz, the software feature is not modern enough to accommodate such a huge feature. It should be able to automatically drive a vehicle, avoid obstacles and enable users to enjoy a comfortable ride. They are not supposed to pose lots of limitations which would make desirable cars not so fun anymore as they used to be. Such things will invariably affect what the brand offers which is not something both investors and the brand’s head would want.

Waymo is a company that offered robot taxis which is being used in public roads and a similar design was offered for buses. However, Mercedes Benz focuses on making autonomous cars that will be used by individuals on a wide range of roads. They are no longer limited by a specific route as these public transports would offer and it is a challenge for the software to adapt to such changing requirements in a completely new environment. It is officially confirmed they are not interested which should translate into their future cars too.

2023 Mercedes Benz EQ SUV will Mark its Entry into Fully EV Cars Lineup

Bringing an electric SUV into the mainstream automobile market has been a challenge even for Tesla.

Every other auto brand including the big wigs like Ford, Mercedes and BMW has been pushing it towards the next five years to make all their cars electric. The 2023 Mercedes Benz EQ SUV is one such addition that will mark the company’s entry into fully electric, large cars that could accommodate the entire family.

In the past few years, all major brands confirmed that they are still working on fully electric cars. The research is taking them many years as expected but this particular crossover SUV from Mercedes Benz will be out much earlier than we might have assumed. The company says that they will be bringing it to the stores in 2022 which is just two years to go but it will still be considered a 2023 model. The car was spotted on the road as it was completely camouflaged and it is still a prototype. Besides, the final version cannot be confirmed so early in its lifecycle and it would take another year or so before the SUV goes into production.

Apart from the EQS sedan, the other EQE variants were also spotted on road. It is evident that Mercedes doesn’t want to miss the opportunity and jump deep into the competitive world of fully electric cars. After all, all major brands are going to compete in this segment without any brand advantage of uniqueness as it is a completely new platform for everyone at the same time. It is being speculated that the new car built on the Electric Vehicle Architecture from Mercedes will have a potential driving range of up to 400 miles, making it extremely powerful and reliable for long travel.

Mid-Sized and Large SUVs

The 2023 Mercedes Benz EQ SUV is more of a lineup of multiple large SUVs rather than just one car. Instead of waiting for different models to be revealed at regular intervals, Mercedes is planning to bring in both mid-sized cars and large ones at the same time. They will vary in pricing but the underlying electric architecture will remain the same. It will provide buyers more variants to choose from but will get them all onboard within the concept of electric cars.

The brand has further planned for compact electric cars which are known as the MMA and will be revealed in 2025.

2021 Mercedes Benz S-Class Now Supports Augmented Reality for Easier Driving

The future of the automobile industry adopting the power of smartphones and the internet is happening, at a slow and steady pace.

As part of the initiative, the 2021 Mercedes Benz S-Class is now working to implement the augmented reality in the heads up display. It makes it easier for a person to drive the car in the night, during heavy snowfall or varied climatic conditions.

The overall advantage of using augmented reality being projected as a heads up display in the car’s window allows you to know lots of information at a glance. While Mercedes has provided a sample image to depict how it will help in driving, the idea is to make it not only easier but also a safe way to drive for millions of people who spend hours covering long distances on the road.

Upgrade for Mercedes Benz S-Class

An issue exists when trying to implement technological advancements into an automobile vehicle. They are primarily mechanical devices in which the concept of sensors, displays and automated driving is supposed to be implemented. Companies like Tesla achieve is much easier because they have been making electric cars. These cars are closer to a smartphone than an actual motor vehicle that you might have known through the decades.

As part of the upgrade being provided, the Mercedes System now enables buyers to make use of the AR technology. Drivers will now be able to know a series of the information displayed right in front of their eyes. The company refers to it as the virtual distance elements which will be activated whenever you switch on the Active Distance Assist Distronic function.

AR Driving is the Future

Making driving easier is the inclusion of virtual red warning lines that encourages one to drive within the lane and lets one know if the car is drifting sideways. The actual speed of the vehicle will be displayed in the window allowing one to get a quick glance as well as additional features like radar cruise control and lane-keeping assist will also be included in the package.

The lines will float on the road as the glass panel acts as a display. In addition to this, the 2021 Mercedes Benz S-Class includes a large 12.8-inch central display to provide all the information you need within the infotainment system. There will be three more screens in specific variants to help transfer the info to rear-seat passengers. The new S-Class is set for launch on September 2.

Mercedes Benz-AMG Launch SLC RedArt and SL designo Edition in Europe

Aimed at people who love to enjoy the spring in open air, Mercedes Benz and AMG has launched their exclusive SLC RedArt and SL designo editions in Europe.

The company has added a couple of exclusive components and new additions to make these editions standout from the rest. With the new addition, buyers will now be able to choose between five different powertrains when going for the RedArt edition and there will be six different color choices. As the name suggests, the edition uses plenty of red color as Mercedes Benz and AMG designed it to be. The red front splitter is the beginning as it moves on to red and black fins, red trims, diamond radiator grille and the most important exclusive Edition badge found only on the SLC RedArt Edition model.

Designed to be a sports edition car, the new Mercedes SLC has large 18-inch AMG light alloy wheels, AMG designed front, rear apron, sports suspension, exhaust system and AMG branded floor mats. The interiors of the car is quite exquisite with silver pearl nappa leather with a touch of black, sports steering wheel and Dynamic Select selector level among other additions.

The long list of luxurious add-ons is carried forward with the SL designo edition that offers 19-inch or 20-inch AMG 10-spoke forged wheels. The wheels feature chrome flics that add a posh sense of exclusivity to it combined with many of the above said features in the interior. The Mercedes Benz AMG SL designo edition has the exclusive logo placed right in between the Chrome badges.

Passengers have complete control over the interior ambience. The car is equipped with ambient lighting, Direct Select selector level and exquisite piano lacquer champagne white trim finish combined with similar mats and edging. AirScarf neck level heating keeps the passengers comfortable in cold climate. A range of safety features including Distronic, active blind spot assist, lane keeping assist and many more functionalities are bundled in the car.

The top of the line SL 500 designo edition delivers about 455 horsepower and has a top speed of 250 kilometer per hour. It is priced at 137,088 euros. The SLC is available in wide range of models including SLC 180, 200, 250d, 300 and the AMG SLC 43. All these models are available as RedArt editions. The base model produces about 156 horsepower while the top end AMG edition delivers an insane 367 horsepower. The AMG version can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. The Mercedes AMG SLC43 RedArt is priced at 62,207 euros.

2019 Mercedes Benz GLB Class Prototype Spotted in Spy Photos

Mercedes is planning to expand its lineup with more rugged models and the 2019 Mercedes Benz GLB Class is one among many models that are in its early production stage.

Going away from the traditional luxury car market, Mercedes is going to make some unconventional models including a SUV. The GLB Class belongs to the SUV and is not a crossover as anticipated earlier. The manufacturer has at least three luxury variants to be revealed in the near future including a A-Class Limousine, A-Class Cabriolet and the last one will be the GLB which has been spotted in this spy photo. The car will feature an all-wheel drive setup if we are to go by earlier rumors.

Inside the brand’s own development division, the SUV is codenamed as X 247. Engineers so far were testing how well they could build a SUV by using multiple components from the existing GLA X 156 model before they could create a concept body and fix the powertrain for this new model. From the spy photos, it is evident that the vehicle has lots of resemblance to the updated G-Class version which is also expected to be formally announced before the end of 2017.

Anyone would hardly agree that the SUV belongs to the Mercedes Benz which is known for its sleek, sporty looks. The vehicle has a boxy look with a much rugged and aggressive design which is a strikingly new route for Mercedes. They are staying true to the claim as it is being made to be an off-road rugged vehicle with 4×4 drive and has a much higher ground clearance. The length of the model will be no more than 4.60 meters with cargo capacity up to 500 liters and can comfortably seat up to seven passengers at once.

Powertrains already being used in the E-Class, possibly the 1.5-liter four cylinder diesel variant and similarly powerful petrol variants are expected to be used in the 2019 Mercedes Benz GLB Class. While there will be plenty of models available on launch including GLB 180, 200, 220 up until 220d, the top of the line flagship model will be the GLB 250 4MATIC. It will drive its power from M264 engine and can deliver up to 220 horsepower. Lower and mi-range variants in the GLB class will not feature all-wheel drive by default but they can be upgraded as an add-on package.

The spy photographs were taken with the GLB class mounted on a truck and it might be a while before we can see it being tested on the roads.

Mercedes Benz E63 AMG Arrives to Take on 2017 BMW M5

The latest generation Mercedes Benz E-class has been a huge hit amongst buyers and critics, as the way the vehicle manages to provide comfort and luxury has elevated it above its rivals like the BMW 5-series and the Audi A6.

The Mercedes Benz E-class may stand for refinement and comfort, but it does not stop the AMG division from enhancing the performance element of the vehicle. Petrol heads have always been a huge fan of the AMG powered vehicles from Mercedes and the upcoming Mercedes Benz E63 promises to satisfy the needs of every diving enthusiast. The Mercedes Benz E63 AMG comes with visual enhancements to improve the styling along with a twin-turbocharged engine.

Gone are the days when the Mercedes Benz AMG powered cars used to have huge 6.0 liter engines on-board. Instead, the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG comes with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo engine lineup in the V8 format. A whole host of AMG badges across the vehicle will be sufficient to give out that this vehicle has a monster under the hood. The standard version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo enginedevelops a whopping 563 bhp. If this was not sufficient, customers can opt for the Mercedes Benz E63 S which delivers an astonishing 604 bhp.

The difference between the two figures may be substantial on paper, but the Mercedes Benz E63 S is only 0.1 seconds faster than the standard variant in acceleration figures from 0 to 60 mph. The standard car takes 3.5 seconds to do this run, thus making it one of the fastest sedans in the market today. It may be a small difference, but the Mercedes Benz E63 S is now faster than the AMG GT-R, which is the hard-core performance version of the AMG GT super-coupe.

As with every other German saloon, the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG is electronically limited to 155 mph but it can be removed by opting for the AMG drivers’ package. Now, the vehicle will be able to reach a top speed of 186 mph. Just like in the recent Mercedes vehicles, the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG uses a nine speed gear box which some find it one too many. In the past, performance vehicles from Mercedes have used a seven speed gearbox in order to stay in the power for longer. A highly intelligent 4MATIC+ system is used to distribute torque across the front and rear axles. The standard version will be priced around £75,000 in the United Kingdom with the S variant costing £8000 more.

Mercedes Benz X-Class Pickup Truck Models Unveiled at Sweden

Just a couple of days ago, Mercedes Benz revealed that they have a X-class pickup truck ready to hit dealership stores.

As promised, the company revealed those models at an event held in Sweden.

The truck revealed in the pictures are said to be a concept model. Mercedes did confirm that they are very close to the production version and may not undergo any major changes before it reaches its target audience. The pickup concept brought Sweden to the limelight and it looks as stylish as one would expect from the brand. They have confirmed that it will be available for purchase before the end of 2017. The auto brand is aiming to make is a versatile and a practical utility vehicle.

In terms of design, the car shares a lot with the Nissan Navara and the Mercedes AMG GT. The front fascia of the model is highly inspired by the AMG variant. And, the obvious Navara references come from the fact that Mercedes has signed a partnership deal with Nissan to build this pickup truck. Both companies will share their respective technologies in order to make it a possibility.

The chassis and the platform is nearly the same as the Navara. Benz uses its proprietary powertrain, features and the style factor is borrowed from different models that the company is known for. “I am really not a fan of having blank spaces in our portfolio. The decision to launch a pickup truck emerges from this fact. We don’t want to leave things untouched and this is the best timing to bring one. It will also be the fourth model to our list of vans available,” said Dieter Zetsche, cars chief at Mercedes Benz.

Under the hood, the car will be powered by a 3.0-liter Bluetec turbodiesel V-6 engine. It will be a six-cylinder engine and uses an all-wheel drive setup. Mercedes has proposed two different styling variants– the stylish explorer and the powerful adventures. As the name suggests, the former is all about looks and it has low profile tires, stylish wheel design, monochromatic exterior and has fancy LEDs. The powerful adventurer has a winch, stubby tires for rugged roads and has body cladding for additional production.

Mercedes will offer both models as a five-passenger crew cab which comprises of full-sized doors. They offer great interior space for the passengers and has a short truck bed. More details of the pickup truck will be available in the third quarter of 2017.

2017 Mercedes-Benz S550e to Be Equipped with Wireless Charging

Mercedes are about to come out with a facelift for the S-Class sooner rather than later.

Specifically, the Mercedes-Benz S550e will be getting additions that will change the way the car is going to be perceived. This vehicle will become the first plug-in hybrid to come with wireless charging support when it launches in 2017. The commercial application of the Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging system is expected to be a game changer on the Mercedes-Benz S550e, and maybe a model of more things to come in future – and less expensive – vehicles.

The Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (WEVC) system used on the vehicle will be licensed by Qualcomm’s Halo technology. The BMW i8 Formula E safety car was instrumental in improving the Halo technology, as it from the basis for everything from testing to developing the system. This vehicle was one of its kind as it was capable of being charged wirelessly. The upcoming 2017 Mercedes-Benz S550e will also sport this ability when the vehicle is parked over a special pad meant for charging. The Halo technology relies on magnetic induction in order to send energy into the batteries, and Qualcomm says that the process has a 90% efficiency rating just like the connector charging technology.

Qualcomm even says that the efficiency of the Halo system increases with power. At present, the system has a rating of 3.6 kW, which is just about good enough for small batteries like those present on the Mercedes-Benz S550e. The vehicle comes with an 8.7-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery.

Wireless charging is expected to be the future when it comes to electric vehicles. Qualcomm is also working on a technology that would allow vehicles to get charged up while on the road. A highway charging infrastructure is essential for this feature to work. This mechanism, which works on induction charging technology just like on a microwave, is expected to be implemented in urban areas before expanding to highways.

While this model gets a major upgrade in terms of the charging technology, the standard variants are expected to downsize in terms of engine options. As a precursor to the upcoming development, the Mercedes Benz S-Class Maybach variants recently received new engine options which develop almost same power but with fewer cylinders. It will help the Mercedes-Benz range comply with the ever increasing strict emission norms.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz S550e is expected to arrive early next year along with the standard variants.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Prices to Be Slashed Further In India

It has been just four months since Mercedes-Benz had launched its GLC luxury SUV in India.

The SUV has quickly become one of the bestselling models of the German luxury car maker in the Indian market.

To keep up with growing demand, Mercedes-Benz India has decided to start assembling the GLC at its Indian plant at Chakan, in the outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra, instead of importing the SUV as CBU (Completely Built Units) as it was doing till now. The CEO and the Executive Director, Operations, of Mercedes-Benz, India have rolled out the ‘Made in India GLC’ from its manufacturing unit in India.

With the local assembling of the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV at its Indian plant, the German automaker can cope up with the major rise in demand for its SUV and will also help the company in reducing the price of the vehicle. If the SUV is imported as a CBU, it will attract a huge amount of tax and duties in India, which will, in turn, reflect on the high pricing of the automobile.

Details of the Power Train

Just like the other popular SUVs, the GLC from Mercedes-Benz is also available with both petrol and diesel optioned engines. Both the types of engines are capable of acquainting an automatic transmission with 9-speed amplitude. The GLC 300 is power driven by petrol motor which has a capacity of 1991cc and it is capable of whipping out a power of 245PS and 370 Nm. The GLC 220 runs on a diesel motor, which has a capacity of a good 2143cc unit and can yield a power of 170PS and 400 Nm.

Prices Slashed in Indian Market

Until now the Mercedes-Benz GLC which was being imported as a CBU had its petrol variant being priced at Rs. 50.7 lakh, whereas the SUV version powered by the diesel engine had its prices starting from Rs. 50.9 lakh. The prices are the ex-showroom rates at Pune, Maharashtra. However, now with the local assembling of the SUV, the Made in India version of the GLC will have a more competitive price badge of Rs. 47.90 lakh for the diesel variant and costs Rs. 51.90 lakh for the petrol variant. These prices are the ex-showroom rates at Delhi, India.

The Made in India GLC SUV, which is positioned in between the Mercedes-Benz GLA, the company’s entry level SUV, and the extra premium GLE from the German car maker, is all set to compete with the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3.

Mercedes Benz Launches Dedicated Brand to Manufacture Electric Cars

Mercedes Benz officially launched the Generation EQ brand at the Paris motor show.

The company’s new wing will be dedicated to building electric cars and research in making better EVs.

The 2016 Paris motor show is underway at the moment where all top brands have unveiled their own cars and new technologies. The expo, obviously was filled with so many concept cars and plenty of electric cars. Almost all companies promised that they will roll out autonomous technology in the next five years or so even though the concept is still in its nascent stage. The same cannot be said about the electric car segment.

Mercedes launching its new electric brand Generation EQ reveals that the automobile industry is ready to adopt the technology. Cars produced under the brand will be able to travel up to 300 miles or more made possible by two electric motors and large batteries. The first of many will be a SUV. The concept was launched at the expo which boasted of an all-wheel drive system, had 300-mile range and is a direct competitor to Tesla Model X.

The term EQ stands for Electric Intelligence, a Mercedes spokesperson clarified during the event. Speaking more about the launch, Dieter Zetsche, CEO and head of Mercedes Benz said, “the EQ brand will not only stop with making electric vehicles but will go way beyond the same by exploring into the world of technology, innovation and new services that could favor the crowd.”

A new architecture is under development on top of which all future electric vehicles from EQ, Mercedes brand will be built on. It has been specifically designed to be scalable, versatile and has enough space for the batteries to be mounted in. Besides, the architecture will be used for hatchbacks, SUVs and all sizes of vehicles. It will be a mix of carbon fiber, aluminum and steel balancing the overall weight of the model.

Similar improvements can be found in the interiors where Mercedes engineers plan to use large 24-inch floating touchscreen display, a fully digital dashboard and a touch friendly steering wheel. The driver will have total control over the infotainment system and all the functions can be done with a single touch.

The upcoming car will be a four seater equipped with speakers on the seats for immersive audio and large screen for enjoyable movie experience on the go. Generation EQ is off to a promising start.

Mercedes AMG GT C, GT Roadster Photos, Specs Revealed Ahead of Paris Show

Mercedes AMG has revealed the GT C and the GT Roadster model, putting an end to all the rumors floating around.

For many weeks, it was rumored that Mercedes is about to launch a GT C variant in association with their favorite partner AMG. There was hardly any solid evidence to justify the rumor but now we have the official photos, specifications much ahead of the proposed 2016 Paris auto show reveal. The car looks as stylish as it should be because any model from the Mercedes stable should be extremely luxurious in looks with immense horsepower packed under the hood.

The Mercedes AMG GT C enters the market as a drop top Roadster variant. While the company do have plans to launch another variant with a hard top coupe, it is yet to be officially confirmed. The Roadster variant is powered by a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine connected to a seven speed dual clutch transmission system with an automatic transaxle. The powertrain can produce 550 horsepower coupled with 502 lb feet of torque.

Mercedes GT S coupe is lower in terms of power compared to the GT C Roadster but it delivers less hp than the GT R coupe that delivers 577 horsepower with 516 lb feet of torque. The automobile brand is focused on segregating the models the right way so that they lineup is complete and doesn’t offer the same performance at different price points. The new GT C Roadster can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph.

Mercedes AMG GT C Roadster borrows some of the performance aspects from the GT R. Notable changes done in the car include a wider track, fenders. Instead of using carbon fiber materials as in the GT R, the engineers have reduced the overall weight of the car by using lithium ion battery. The GT Roadster which happens to be one among the new launches produces a cool 469 horsepower coupled with 465 lb feet of torque.

The base chassis of the Roadster edition of the cars are made stronger and chunkier so that they can compensate the missing top. The soft top is power retractable and it takes about 11 seconds for it to close. The Mercedes AMG GT C and the GT Roadster will be displayed at the 2016 Paris auto show. They will hit dealership stores in U.S. this month.

New Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster Revealed In Teaser Video

The Mercedes AMG GT C Roadster is a convertible version of the popular variant that has been revealed in a brand new teaser.

True to its name, the teaser video is extremely limited in content. It shows the profile of the car but the entire design continues to stay camouflaged. The drop top version is very close to its official launch. For any buyer who has been waiting for the Mercedes AMG GT C Roadster to hit the stores, it might be a couple more weeks before the auto brand makes the big announcement.

The sports car range under the Mercedes AMG partnership is expanding its lineup. The GT R variant is also in the cards. It was recently spotted by spy photographers when the engineers took it for a test ride at the Nurburgring race track. The new model gets rid of the hard tops used in the SL and the SLC variant.

Instead, the Mercedes AMG GT C Roadster is going with a softer top that has a less complex unit. The new setup significantly reduces the time it takes to roll in or roll out. Tobias Moers, head of the Mercedes AMG division confirmed that the Roadster is coming which will be revealed before the end of the year.

While he did confirm that they are going to launch an open top version, there was no word on the specifications of the upcoming car. The only information Moers shared was that it will be a perfect sports car in every aspect. In other words, the design will be sporty and aggressive while the powertrain used in the GT C Roadster is going to be extremely powerful. It will be a tweaked version of the engine that is already being used in the SL model.

The engineers have incorporated great stiffness in the Mercedes AMG GT C’s chassis allowing the driver to have sharp control over the vehicle. Even though, the chassis suffers due to the structural loss with no roof, the stiffness in the chassis continues to provide the necessary control to the driver. The suspension is going to remain fairly the same as the hard top version.

An electric fabric hood is used in the Mercedes AMG GT C Roadster edition. The hood helps reduce the complexity of the setup while maintaining the weight of the car and the overall cost under control. Mercedes AMG is working on a more powerful version of the Roadster to be released under the black series category.

Mercedes Owners Are Ready To Embrace Autonomous Technology Right Away

Owners of Mercedes Benz are most willing to adopt autonomous technology as soon as possible followed by Infiniti brand patrons.

When it comes to adopting new technology which could sound unfamiliar and expensive in most scenarios, customers are usually slow. Similarly, companies delay incorporating such features as it might affect their current sale trends. The claim is not valid when it comes to owners of Mercedes and Infiniti cars. A survey conducted by MaritzCX revealed that the car owners are highly interested in checking out the self-driving cars when they get launched in the market.

About 12,353 owners were interviewed as part of the survey. Those who owned a Mercedes or an Infiniti car opined that they are interested in trying new features as soon as they are launched. Twenty-seven percentage of the group were confident and wanted to go for autonomous vehicles when they are out. A not so surprising part of the survey is that Jeep, Ram owners were the least interested people in self-driving technology.

Going in rough terrains, Jeep owners obviously cannot rely on the autonomous car to take care of them in such conditions. People who liked luxury and usually cruise through the city found it as an appealing option.

“People who are used to luxury vehicles and its modern features are more open minded to try out something new. They strongly believe that safety aspect would be much higher on their cars when the computer takes control and drives with a pre-defined set of instructions. Those who go off-road and like to drive on their own may not like it. It was confirmed by Jeep and Ram owners who had an adverse opinion about self-driving cars,” said the author of the survey.

Nearly the entire population which buyers a car from one brand or the other was aware of the fact that autonomous cars are coming. About 48 percent of the buyers said that they are not interested in buying one even when top manufacturers launch cars with self-driving technology.

Compared to USA, buyers in the European region are more interested in going for self-driving technology. It is not so new because earlier surveys revealed the same. Based on this trend, it might take many more years before people in the country adopts it. Many are not ready to give computers control over their car as it raises issues like hacking, decision making and legal stuff.

Mercedes Maybach 6 Concept’s Teaser Image Reveals Gullwing Doors

Gullwing doors are always scintillating and the Mercedes Maybach 6 concept is going for it, as confirmed by a teaser image released by the auto brand.

The number of new cars and concept models heading to the Pebble Beach event is rising at a steady rate. Almost every manufacturer has something good to show off but the Mercedes Maybach 6 concept has some great potential to steal the show. The car comes from Mercedes, the company known for style and substances with a large audience base. Besides, the Maybach series is making a comeback after a long break and is probably one of the longest in the series.

Multiple teaser images have been released online throughout the week. The first one showcased the rear end of the model and then we got to see the front fascia. It was exceptionally sharp, sporty and pointed to justify the series the model belongs to. The new teaser shows some of the rear end of the car along with its gullwing doors.

The Mercedes Maybach 6 concept is expected to be about six meters long featuring slender tail lamps mounted on the fender and the rear bumper. The wing mirrors are exceptionally tiny but it seems to be a necessary addition to maintain a low profile. Visibility is expected to be really low as the concept car is keen on keeping you private when on the move.

Gullwing doors add that amazing edge to sports cars. Tesla was keen on using it for their Model X SUV and it led to multiple delays. The doors just didn’t work as intended on the long run. With their expertise in the industry, Mercedes might be aware of this fact and will ensure Maybach 6 gets its special doors without any compromise.

Besides, the car is still in its early stages of design and may undergo many changes before the final version. When opened, the doors provide great wingspan allowing enough space for the passengers to get in. Very little information is available with regards to the Mercedes Maybach 6 concept.

Mercedes is tight lipped about the car as they are waiting for the big reveal at the Pebble Beach event. We will have more to share as soon as the launch takes place and when it does, let’s hope the automobile brand would discuss a possible release date for the Maybach 6. Would it be next year? We hope so!
