After introducing the Model S sedan and the Model X SUV, Tesla announced the new Model 3.
It is the electric car for the crowd who couldn’t afford much priced at just $35,000 and had an amazing 200-mile range.
The next big reveal has taken place. Tesla has officially announced on their Twitter handle about the new entry level electric SUV named the Model X 60 D. The car follows the same pattern as the Model S 60, which is a cheaper alternative to the original sedan. The official pricing for the model is $74,000. One just can’t term it as cheap but it is cheaper compared to the Model X which has more luxurious components and features. The idea is to convince the average buyer to take the plunge and join the green revolution by driving an emission free electric car.
Tesla surprisingly has not made any compromise in the battery pack. The newly announced Model X 60 D packs the same battery as the base model. The total capacity of the battery is limited to 60 kilowatts with the help of software programs. The new SUV is capable of running up to 200 miles on a single charge. When compared to the pricier 75D model which can run up to 237 miles, it is less but definitely not bad. You can easily complete a trip or commute multiple times a week without draining the battery power.
The Tesla X 60D is powered by an all-wheel drive system connected to dual motors for maximum torque and acceleration. It allows the SUV to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.0 seconds. The total top speed of the car is pegged at 130 miles per hour. As with all other models, the automobile manufacturer allows the buyer to get what they need, if they are willing to pay additional costs.
For this sole reason, the engineers have used a bigger battery in the car and locked it at a smaller running capacity. If you are ready to shell out $9,000 more, the company will unlock the battery so that the entire 75 kWh power rendered by it can be utilized which will increase the mile range. If the ability to travel long distances matter more, the only other option is to go for the Model X 75D. The Model S 60 sedan offers 210 miles which is higher because of its lower weight.
