The Best Cars at the 2016 New York Auto Show So Far

The 2016 New York Auto Show has just commenced and with days to go, the array of cars getting launched in a grand style has just begun. There has been back to back auto expos in recent times but newer cars and technologies just don’t seem to cease to exist.

The event is underway at the Javits center and as not everyone can be in NY at the moment, we bring the best and the most promising launches of the show. The event takes place throughout the weekend and there is going to be lot of other launches as well. But, here’s the best pick and probably these cars may reach customers much easier than super powered vehicles which are priced exorbitantly.

Bringing it back to life, Toyota launched the 2017 Prius Prime plug-in hybrid. It’s not an electric car like the Model 3 but a plug-in which relies on a gasoline engine but renders power from an electric motor as well. The mile range has been increased to 22 miles on full charge, it’s lighter and has a fuel efficiency of 120 MPGe.

The Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis New York concept is the next in the series boasting a futuristic dashboard like never before. The steering wheel is peculiarly shaped and according to the designers, it makes it easier to read the information provided on the console. Genesis will launch a sedan, crossover and SUV so as to compete in every segment. The design is unique and Hyundai aims to take down the likes of BMW, Audi A4 with this new series of launches.

Lincoln Navigator at the 2016 New York auto expo made heads turn as it featured huge gullwing doors and special three step ladder. When you step out of it, you might probably feel disembarking from a space ship and that’s the experience the brand is aiming to provide. The concept model is powered by a twin turbo V6 engine capable of rendering 400 horsepower, probably a bit higher.

Hyundai launched its Ioniq series of cars. It includes a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and an electric vehicle. Launches these days just can’t skip the battery technology. Tesla has confirmed to show their production version of the Model 3 before the end of this month. If they exceed expectations, it’s not just the Hyundai Ioniq but everyone has to come up with proper EVs of their own with impressive mile range and affordable pricing.
