Volkswagen released new pictures of the upgraded Amarok and the premium pickup vehicle is impressive than expected.
With whole new exterior and interior design combined with powerful V6 diesel engine, it is set to leave a mark when it hits stores.
The truck is powered by a 2.0 TDI engine in the base model and the top of the line is powered by a 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine. Three different power outputs are being offered by Volkswagen in the range. With a tweaked, high performance engine, the refreshed Amarok is expected to give a tough fight to existing models including the Nissan Navara, Ford Ranger and the Mitsubishi L200.
It is capable of producing over 221 horsepower combined with 550 Nm torque. The diesel engine which met with criticism for duping emission regulations is now tweaked so that it meets the regulations set by Euro 6. Buyers will be able to choose from three different driving systems. The truck is available with a rear wheel drive, front wheel drive with the option to switch to all-wheel drive and a permanent 4Motion four-wheel drive system for maximumperformance. All these models are mated to an eight speed automatic transmission system.
Amarok has received paddle shifters in the automatic version which is the first of its kind. With the improved diesel engine, the pickup truck now has better towing capacity. Most buyers opt for pickup variants so as to make good use of their towing ability. The top end of the Amarok is capable of pulling up to 3.5 tons which is a massive accomplishment by the engineering team. The earlier model was limited to 3.2 tons. It also promises a fuel efficiency of 37 miles per gallon.
A brand new chrome adorns the front fascia of the truck with aerodynamically enhanced alloy wheels, revised front bumper and rear lamps with dark shades. The 4Motion and the V6 badges are found in the top of the trim line with optional new load covers and styling bars. Infotainment system in the Volkswagen Amarok is improved with voice recognition, microphone and a 3D color display screen.
The ergo Comfort seats offer supreme comfort according to the brand which can be adjusted in 14 different postures for maximum versatility. It is part of the healthy back campaign initiated by VW. The pickup truck segment is getting increasingly crowded and it is to be seen how Amarok fares in the race.
