Volkswagen has officially revealed the 2016 Passat despite the diesel fiasco that is ongoing in the United States as well as other regions.
The company, during the launch, confirmed that the price of the base variant will be at $23,260. The pricing doesn’t include the $820 delivery charges and as promised, they have revealed the pricing for the entire line-up. The top most model is the 1.8 turbo four cylinder TSI engine. It delivers an impressive 170 horsepower combined with 184 pound feet of torque which is expected to deliver the best on-road experience. The car uses a six speed automatic transmission system as found in the outgoing model.
Volkswagen, in their statement, confirmed that the company offers a wide range of new features and additional components. The total worth of these accessories are deemed at $1,315 which is being offered to buyers who opt for the baseline model. In comparison, it is a great deal because the add-ons include a spacious 5-inch display infotainment system powered by the MIB II interface and the automatic post collision braking system.
The diesel variant of the 2016 Volkswagen Passat may or may not launch in the United States. The company is in a critical position with all their diesel cars because they rigged the software to bypass emission tests. The pricing of the diesel car has been kept on hold for the moment.
The R-Line of the Passat will be priced higher at $24,975. For the increased price tag, you get front bumper, 19-inch wheels and the rear diffuser has been tweaked. There are plenty of other changes found in the R-line as well including power driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, heated seats and mirrors, but they come at an additional cost of $775.
Then there are other variants including the Passat SE priced at $27,100, the SEL at $31,315 and the SEL Premium at $35,090. Given the price tag of the premium variant of the 2016 Volkswagen Passat, it may not be surprising if people choose to go with a different brand instead of opting for this exorbitantly priced model. The car uses a 3.6 liter VR6 engine which delivers a high 280 horsepower on road and 258 lb feet of torque. It uses a six speed DSG transmission system and has huge chrome exhaust tips coupled with hill hold control for elevated driving.
For additional charges, buyers can always upgrade a cheaper car with some exquisite features if they like to, without spending a fortune.
