Volkswagen Three Row Crossover Spotted in Spy Photos

The spy photographs of the upcoming Volkswagen three row crossover had emerged. Surprisingly, the car was hardly camouflaged giving us a great glimpse of its design and exterior finish.

Based on how open the car is, it is obvious that the company is close to completing its production schedule and launching it for the general public. They are probably aiming to launch it at one of the important auto expos set to take place in the following months. With enough space to accommodate a large family, the upcoming crossover is a direct competitor to the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander.

In the year 2013, Volkswagen launched a CrossBlue concept car at the Detroit auto show. It was purely a concept model at that time and the upcoming three row crossover is very much similar to it. The company may have used a couple of design aspects from the concept car. The front end is extremely flat and is square shaped while there are silver roof rails and a modified front grille. Except for the grille, everything in the front fascia is the same as the one showcased at the Detroit auto expo.

The same design aspects are carried out in the rear including a strong rear wing and square taillights. The upcoming unnamed model is constructed on the MQB platform. Majority of Volkswagen cars are being built on this new platform which allows the designers to incorporate more headroom for all passengers. The crossover is expected to comfortably offer space for at least seven adult passengers and there will be additional space if some of the seats are used by young kids.

It’s not just the seating area but the cargo space has been significantly boosted to make it easy to accommodate their belongings. In terms of size, the car is quite similar to the Honda Pilot. However, the designers may bring some exclusive changes to make the Volkswagen model stand out of the crowd. Pricing of this particular model is expected to be much higher making it one of the priciest offerings from the Volkswagen brand.

The crossover is expected to be priced higher than $50,000 but it is a rumored price tag and the not the official one. The car may be powered by the 3.6-liter V6 engine. A front wheel drive is expected to be used in all models which can be upgraded to an all-wheel drive. A hybrid and a plug-in hybrid version of the same model is being considered by the manufacturer.
