The new marketing trend is to make good use of social media websites and Volvo did a good job by releasing teaser images on Snapchat.
After days, the company has officially launched the concept for their 40 series entry level models.
The concept cars are named as 40.1 and 40.2 which we assume are tentative titles and will be renamed before official launch. They are set to be priced below the next gen 60 series and equipped with features that are fit for an entry level model. It is constructed on the popular CMA platform. The particular platform was conceived and designed by Volvo engineers in association with their parent company named Geely.
Volvo is set to launch the XC40 crossover and a brand new sedan. Both these concept cars are in their final stages after which the production version will be finalized. The CMA platform is specifically designed for smaller cars. It helps increase stability, center of gravity and promote best fuel efficiency. The versatile platform can not only readily accommodate petrol and gasoline engines but is also an apt fit for hybrid as well as electrified cars. The automobile manufacturer confirmed that they have some ambitious plans for the next few years. The idea is to create cars which can compete against luxury models from their immediate rivals.
“The brand has always been ahead of its competitors and we have set a new benchmark by creating a new vehicle architecture combined with an efficient powertrain. The innovation has helped us leap miles ahead of our competitors in the premium segment. With the development of the new battery electric powertrain, we are confident that a bright future awaits Volvo in the automobile segment,” said Peter Mertens, the company’s senior vice president in the research and development segment.
Volvo has confirmed that the brand will be ready with its fully electrified vehicle by 2019. Tesla, the pioneers in the field of EVs has already launched the Model 3 which goes on sale in 2018. When the world of automobiles shifts towards battery powered cars, Volvo will be ready to face the competition and deliver competent cars.
The CMA platform will play an integral role in helping them accomplish the feat. The base 40 series will be equipped with multiple safety features including city safety, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, pilot assist, cyclist detection among other similar features for easy driving.
