By investing heavily in terms of time and money, the engineers from the automobile brand has brought the best performance of this next quad turbo engine. The diesel engine is expected to make its first appearance in the 7 series. Based on its success and adoption rate, the engine will be used in other future models. Despite the Volkswagen issue, there are large groups of buyers who still believe in the powertrain and like to go for it.

BMW is betting high on this community and they are not just introducing one for the sake of it but rather has boosted its performance by many fold. Based on information gathered from the press show, the new turbo diesel engine is capable of delivering an impressive 394 horsepower combined with 561 lb feet of torque. Not many powertrains can boast of such numbers which obviously indicates that the automobile manufacturer has done their research and development with utmost dedication.

The brand new engine is based on the newly developed modular layout. The primary goal is to boost the quad turbo I6 so that it is on par with the V8 fighter engine. If the numbers they confirmed during the show can be produced in actual cars on road, BMW will be setting a new benchmark for every auto manufacturer out there. The design uses four exhaust turbochargers with two of them dedicated for high pressure while the other two focuses on low pressure. The improvement is made possible without increasing the weight of the engine.

Powered by the quad turbo diesel engine, the new generation of BMW cars will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds. The top speed of the model is pegged at 155 miles per hour and it won’t go any higher as the manufacturer will lock it for safety purposes. The new I6 engine will replace the existing 3.0-liter I6 model. Fuel efficiency is much better as it reduces consumption by at least five percent made possible by the quad turbo design with additional exhausts. An eight speed automatic transmission gearbox will be mated with the engine.
